Ordered mine day before yesterday. It has shipped. It will be interesting to see how dual VVti engine responds to balanced flow and a less restrictive collector. No point in changing the rest of the exhaust. It is over-sized already, plus I like quiet. After many years as an aircraft mechanic, the ringing in my ears if enough noise for me.

I'm very interested to hear your feedback. I know everyone in the 1st and 2nd Gen loves them. There aren't enough changes to the 3rd Gen that would make me think otherwise, but i'd still really like to hear your review anyway. Good luck!

    "2.7-Liter DOHC 16-Valve 4-Cylinder with VVT-i; 159 hp @ 5200 rpm; 180 lb.-ft. @ 3800 rpm" from toyota.com. It's not dual VVT-i.

    Is the 2016 4CYL same as the 01 2.7L 4 CYL essentially?

Toyota.com is technically correct. The engine is VVTi, buy it does not specify single or dual. 2016 is DUAL VVTi. It says it right on my valve cover. Exact changes made to the engine are unknown except for the fact that the compression ratio has been increased from 9.6 to 10.2. Toyota is mostly silent on this matter.

These changes were also made to the international 2TRFE. I have found one reference that other changes made were Teflon coated main bearings, roller rockers, lighter valve springs, and some kind of cylinder coating, if I remember correctly....Is this true? I found no other information to corroborate this.

The exhaust tubing OD is 60mm measured with a caliper. This is about 2.4 inches.

Learn something new every day... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_TR_engine I was wrong.

Pitiful gains though. 5HP and 0 torque. I guess that's why they aren't advertising the update.

The 1AR-FE has the same displacement and has 187HP. I assumed the single VVT-i was holding back the 2TR-FE. If Toyota keeps milking this engine, they'll have to add direct injection next. :)

It was outstanding for the 2nd gen 2.7! I bet it will do great on the 3rd gen 2.7.

I wonder what the specs are on it like how much torque and hp does it add? Couldn't find nothing on their website.

It may be the same as the 2nd gen. I read a bunch of stuff and saw dyno sheets on the 4cyl forum saying how legit LCE is. Check that section out.

I already have my LCE header on. It's great! Feels like an always-on ECT, doesn't make for much added noise, and you can feel the power band is pushed lower.

Supposedly it brings you into the neighborhood of 200lb/ft and 170-ish hp.

Not all gains are in the peaks. ;) Especially on the exhaust side cam, you'll find that having VVT is great for widening the powerband, but doesn't give shit in terms of peak.
