Well, I guess I spoke too soon. I came home just now to find a Doug Thorley package waiting on my doorstep.

The header looks the same as my old one though. I only have time this sunday to install it though. I will see if it fits 2011 trucks.

the guys at lce recommended i go with a magnaflow for the most power combined with their header. i got the exhaust in the mail today and the header should be here in a couple.. ill try and post a sound clip when i get it all installed for ya.

is everyone just keeping the stock cats? or whats the rout for the most power? i know i could get a 02 sim or new cats but i also hear our trucks like a little back pressure so i dont want to open it up to much....

We talking a cat back, or a muffler series depending on the sound you are looking for?

I can do the muffler first and then work on the header.

Don't buy the cat back kit. It is the exact same size pipe as stock. Only buy a muffler and replace the stock one. Just some money saving advice ;)

And the thing with back pressure generally is, the more back pressure the more low end power and torque, the less back pressure the more high end power and torque. So for our motors, which make more power down low and not really any power up top, more back pressure is def more important. So no hollowed cats or mufflers, no straight pipes, and no open headers for us! Lol

Could anybody on here tell me, or give an estimate of the tools required to install this header? I'm trying to figure out if it would be more economical to buy any tools that I am missing and install it myself, or just pay the local shop to do it for me. My main concern is having to buy jackstands or not because I have wrenches and ratchets and will probably buy a torque wrench either way.

You dont really need any special tools. Just install header and weld a new muffler out back. Honestly i would keep stock muffler for more lowend power. I lost lowend and gained high end when i combined lce with magnaflow muffler.

I agree. Only do a muffler for sound. U will NOT notice a gain in hp. If anything it is a little less in the low end. Listen to that ^^^ guy

Yeah.. I already have a magnaflow on mine, oops. So when you installed your header you just needed basic tools, nothing special?

Nothin special. I think its a 12mm for the header nuts on the head and a 14mm for the bolts with springs that hold the header to the down pipe! Its a very simple install. Dont over think it!

Plus if your truck is lifted, you don't even need a jack or jackstands!:D

Up the coin for the collector donut, the oem one. Other than that it is basic hand tools. Doesn't have to be lifted unless 5 lug. oem prerunner or 4wd will require no jacking.

Hey it's says you're from Chico?

The LCE header is not C.A.R.B. legal right? What do you plan to do when it comes time to smog it?
