My 2 cents, the deck-plate mod is a good and cheap mod for the intake system. I wouldn't drop that kind of money on headers and intake and fan.

The only thing in that kit worth a damn are the headers.

The deck plate is just as useless, but at least it's cheap.

Nope. Header is one of the spendiest ones out there. You won't get any real power gains from any of it. Sure it's nice to have and I prefer to have a header and intake on my RZ's but I'd never drop a pile of money on it because it does nothing.

Electric fans are a waste as far as I'm concerned. Less reliable than the factory fan clutch, expensive and our trucks don't have a heat problem.

I will say though, if you want your shifter to feel more crisp and car-like definitely drop the 100$ on the short throw kit from LCE. I love it on my W59.

The headers have been on the dyno by members here and have shown 15-20 gains in HP. By themselves they are a worthy upgrade.

The headers made a big difference in my 93 Pickup. But that’s more notable when going from near zero hrsprs to a few hrsprs haha.

Really? With normal aspiration engine? That's surprising to me. But if somebody dynoed it before and after, that's some hard results to challenge. So if that's true I take my 'No' response back:D

Did that 15 to 20 Horse Power gain also up grade the rest of the exhaust ??

That might have been in the fine print no one took notice of.

Headers are great as long as the rest of the exhaust can flow the increased exhaust gases .

Myself I would not spend a dime at LCE if someone else gave me the dime.

Iirc it's 1 person and the headers were 1 part of a list and that netted maybe 10. There's not too many people that would bother to Dyno a taco at all, much less after installing 1 part. 10hp is within the range of error from 1 pull to the next.

    The Bed is stock...ish
I bought the LCE header back in late 2000s after my cast manifold cracked. My truck was an auto 4x4 on 33s then. I never really felt any difference..

And I would keep the stock clutch fan.

Modern engines are about as good as they're going to be when they roll off the line. Any change in hard parts have been considered, tested, discarded. You end you with on average the best engine they can make. We're not exactly dealing with 40s tech that a little improvising in your garage can improve on the millions spent on engineering.

Most actual improvements need more tech than most have the ability to do and some hard parts can compliment that. Bolt ons, that money is better spent on gas than chasing 1hp that exists for a tenth of a second on a Dyno. Unless you're building a drag engine, but doing that in a dd taco is just silly.

The only real solution, more engine or more fuel/air. And of course more$$$.

How much money do you want to spend for what in the end will be relatively little performance gain?

Depending on what state you're in, it may not even be "legal" to run the headers.

So in a practical sense, the answer is no, not worth it. You can probably swap in a 3.4L motor for less than the cost of that LCE kit, and that's not including selling the 4cyl motor, lol.

If you're the type that likes to tinker and experiment (and have a lot of disposable income), sure, go ahead and squeeze some more power out of that little motor. But if you're going to do that, a turbo or super charger is your best bet. There are people squeezing some pretty good power out of these little motors.

Aww, sorry to hear they didnt meet your expectations, but thanks for your candid response.

Guess if you add a turbo though the headers would really let it breathe!
