For those that use a lead-acid battery off-road on steep trails, how often do you restore the corroded mess left behind after the battery leaks and eats away the paint in the engine bay? I knew I should have just bought an optima battery. Now I need to restore my front driver side...wire brush all the rust and paint. Why did I listen to other posts saying lead-acid is fine? They just aren't really wheeling I guess.

Yeah, AGM is the way to go. But optima is not what they used to be

I can run agm, but first gens can't charge it to where they need to be so it won't last as long for us. Even if optima isn't what they used to be they are probably still way better than your body melting away.
