How do you know that? When I plug the VIN for my '11 DCSB into http://touch.toyota.com/recall all I get is the stupid tire sticker recall which doesn't even apply to my truck. I already had the four leaf TSB done but, given how they handled the sticker recall, I doubt Toyota is organized enough to know it was done.

I talked to my local dealer and the rep told me that if the add a leaf involves taking the leaf pack apart they may not be able to do it for legal reasons but would give the parts back without question. But if there is no legal reason he said they would do it for me. He said Toyota will tell them what they can and can not do with the recall.

He also told me that he has no Idea what is going to happen wether it is a clip or new leafs.

Caduceus, no, I did not. I bought it with 88K mi and did not know about the issue,
I am guessing that unless the recall replaces the pacs, I will have to pay for a fix, either adding a leaf or air bags or???

    thanks

I'm not sure. I think that particular recall is just replacing the 3-leaf with a 4-leaf suspension. I think I had an AAL on at the time and the dealer left it (don't expect the same), and the back end was definitely a bit higher afterwards. I'd say the worst that happens is you call your dealer's service shop, tell them your problems, mention specifically that recall, and see what they say.

I want to say it'll be free, but they probably have to order the part and kill a few hours doing it.

I wouldn't even consider doing anything else to the rear suspension until you get the TSB issue figured out, as it might make things back to normal.

The rear leaf TSB was only good if your truck was still under warranty, correct? 36,000 miles?

Well that sucks. I just found this tsb and I just bought my 07 tacoma with 150k and was wondering if people were having this problem with a load in the back. Pretty sure the previous owner didn't take care of the tsb... might try to talk to the guy I bought the truck from and see if they can't maybe work something out.

Poop! This mileage limitation on the TSB is B S . If the springs or the construction is faulty, the company should simply replace the bad stuff. Mileage should have no bearing on the issue.
As I said earlier my Gen 1 Taco was a great truck but I needed a larger cab (4Dr) and bought a 08 for that reason. So far I have front drive line rumble, center rear drive shaft bearing crapped out and now lousy springs??? Topped with LAWYERESE TSB/Recall policy!

Oh well, all good things must come to an end!

This is a recall not a TSB. A recall doesn't matter the mileage or warranty. As long as your truck is in the year range of what's being recalled. This is what I got from Toyota.

The upcoming leaf spring issues is a recall and mileage won't be an issue. The previous leaf spring TSB was mileage dependent.

Oh I didn't realize there was 2 different ones. So how do I go about the recall then? Do they replace the leafs on this one as well?

Seriously, the easiest way to answer you is what I said earlier, go to the toyota owners site and plug in your vin and read the info it gives you.

Summary: spring TSB only good for 36,000 miles or 36 months, whichevers first

Spring RECALL: need to plug VIN in to see if you qualify and it's still in it's early stages and no remedy has been decided yet so there's nothing to do yet.

I read somewhere that the remedy would be anounced nov 29, anybody verify that? I can't find the source anymore so I don't know if that's true or not.
