Hey Guys. I’ve got my passenger side leaf spring removed to install the add a leaf spring from Low Range and installing Energy Suspension poly bushings. Spent today sanding off most of the rust/paint off the leaf spring. I plan on taking it to the car wash tomorrow to use the high pressure washer to clean between the leaf pack.
Once I get it repainted, should I put grease in between the leafs?
If so, what grease to use?
    Appreciate your input.

You already have to separate for the AAL might as well fully clean and treat while its apart

I thought the same as far as taking them apart, but you can only remove the bottom leaf when you remove the top bolt. The remaining have metal bands securing them (each side).
If I’m not seeing how to fully remove without cutting the bands please let me know.
    Appreciate the feedback guys

Cut thin strips of bicycle inner-tube and put between the leafs, replace Anti squeak pads. No more squeaking. If you want to install strips on leafs already on truck, get flat head screw driver and hammer to separate leafs enough to slide in rubber strips. This is a must on 2nd gen dakars. Otherwise they sound like a rusted out ford.

Lol..what’s up Jay! Yes, the Green Kryptonite of Tacoma has infected my beloved Yota.
I’m using Por15 on parts like the U-bolt mounting bracket (a pic below of it prepped for application), and the metal on the bump stop, etc.
The remaining areas including the leaf springs I’ll probably use the VHT Rollbar and Chassis spray paint (satin black). In my experience that is the best spray I’ve ever used. Dries fast, and the finish appears oem.

In my experiences grease attracts dirt.

That said, in the high compression area that breaks not much dirt can get in.

If I ever have my own springs apart I would put wheel bearing grease in the ubolt compression area of the springs.

We run simple silaglyde on the pads to stop any noise.

Whatever grease you put in will last maybe a couple of months before the squeaks return.

I've been running Speedway leaf liners P/N 91033038-BLK in my Icon RXT leaf packs for a year. Multiple wheeling trips later, no squeaking.

Great Information, and Thank You for the link. Looks similar to what “Killintime” posted above with the bicycle tube in between the leafs.

I'm pretty sure my stock 1st gen leaf springs had plastic pads in between each leaf at the center and on the ends. I recall reusing them when I made a set of AAL's out of them for my 2nd gen. I could totally be mixing things up between the 1st and 2nd gens too though. The pads on the end were round and black plastic. The pads in the center were white Teflon looking deals. Again, it's been a while so I'm not positive.

When I made my AAL's, I broke apart the 1st gen spring packs and trimmed them to the length I wanted. I then redrilled holes in the ends so that I could reuse the plastic pads. I sprayed them down with dry-moly lube before reassembly. So far things have been quiet, but I've only got about 10k miles on them since putting it all back together.

No, you’re correct. The spring has the plastic pads like you mentioned.

Broke out my steam cleaner and saved myself a trip to the car wash. Again, this after sanding the rust off, using engine degreaser and the water hose. Our water pressure sucks. You have to run around in the shower to get wet!
Steam cleaner worked awesome! Keep in mind that thing puts out some hotter than four hundred hells heat which is why I wear gloves. If you ever use one, wear gloves...... ask me how I know.

High Noon - I’ve got a C-Clamp on both sides of the nut. The issue I’m having is that when I turn it the pin turns (you can see it turning on the other side).
Is there a trick to removing it??

never mind...took a pair of channel locks to hold it.

I put in the liners when the RXT leaf packs were new, before they went in the truck.
