I have owned my 03 Prerunner DC for a little while now and have noticed the clunk from axle wrap for a little while. I put some clamps on the overload leaf just to troubleshoot and it fixed the clunk when stopping, but it rides like crap. Also, my rear leafs are pretty much shot anyway.

So I want to put some new leafs in, but I wanted recommendations. The previous owner put 2" spacers in the front and shackles in the rear already. I want to put in some new leafs, but don't really want a spring with a higher than a stock height, assuming I keep the shackles that are currently installed.

Also, the previous owner re-routed the exhaust tip so that it fits tighter to the bed of the truck (which I like). The other reasoning for not using a "lift" spring (and going back to stock length shackles) is that I don't want to have to re-do the exhaust too. I'm not sure I'd have the clearance without the shackles to keep the exhause as is.

So what would you guys recommend?

Is there a better option though than a direct stock equivalent? Anything that would help with the axle wrap problem these trucks have?

Dorman makes a nice set of stock replacements. I bought a set for $200 new off ebay and added an add a leaf. Either the new leafs or the aal eliminated the axle wrap. I couldnt find an "upgraded" set of leafs without them adding lift.
