I have been reading a lot of busted leafs, (I checked my truck qualifies) my question is this, Is this a mainly a problem with trucks carrying heavier loads? or do they just "Break"? I carry very little in my truck, I will take it in if I get a notice, but was wondering, Thanks

First month of ownership... This month I'm removing front air dam, and also Rhino lining the bed.
Why wait. They will never send you a recall letter. This is a TSB, you just take it in and ask for it.

I can't say that I have heard of the 3-leaf pack becoming damaged/broken.

The TSB is more because those leafs can not handle the truck rated load, without sagging all the way down to the axle. I've heard dealers even looking for evidence of this before agreement to honor the TSB.

Thanks, I should have mentioned I had the "suspension upgrade" TBS done, & I must say Toyota did a Great job!, absolutely no hassle! I am real curious, as to the fix they have in mind for the leafs. Thanks again

There are other recent threads discussing this issue. In summary, Toyota appears to be more worried that a broken spring will puncture the Gas Tank. Current bet is that they will add a clip around the spring pack - not to prevent breakage, more to keep the leaf from hitting the gas tank should it break. Final resolution not yet determined.
