Had an issue with my 06 leaf springs since new. Open a case about them before the recall they would not help me.
Once the drivers side broke I replaced them with dakars.
Recall came, now I'm trying to be reimbursed.
First was denied from lack of proof of payment (from 4 years ago). Luckily I had my CC statement saved.
I sent in EVERYTHING they requested.
Now they sent me a denial letter and want lots more information. I feel like they are doing all they can to hose me.
Has anyone else had any luck with these goons?

No problem here. They even appologized up and down for the inconvenience. Custom leaf springs made at Pohl springs in Spokane Wa. Hope they get it right for you!

Yes. And I told them I replaced them myself. I do not know why they are dragging thier feet on you, but I Did tell them I would not expect to be a part of the leaf spring recall campaignfrom here on out. Maybe that pushed them?

Same thing happened to me years ago. I knew a recall was issued due to the possibility of the leafs breaking and puncturing the fuel tank. There was no replacement in the works yet so rather than wait I bought OMEs and replaced them myself. I was denied by Toyota since I performed the work myself. I even saved all of the payment paperwork, recall notice and old leaf springs.
Needless to say, I was not happy. I tried to submit the claim again...but was promptly denied. Toyota said they would have no proof that the leaf pack came from a Toyota Tacoma, even if I took them into an authorized dealership:jerkoff:.

I dont blame them. You replaced your springs prior to the recall. Toyota has no responsibility to reimburse you for whats essentially an upgrade.

I fought with them a while ago about the same problem with my 06.
Since I didn't "pay someone" to replace the springs they wouldn't cover it.

it specifically stated in the letter that if the springs were already replaced they would reimburse the cost of the work. Do you still not blame them?

I believe they meant if they were replaced with FACTORY springs they would reimburse you. I wouldn't blame them for not paying for your aftermarket springs. I bet that if you took the truck in they would replace the ones on there now with new factory springs at no cost.

They replaced the ones on my 07 at just under 200,000 miles last Fall.

I also got a letter stating that they would replace any bad U-Joints up to 200,000 miles for free or reimburse me for any that I'd already paid for. I had to put one on at about 170,000 miles, but was unable to find documentation. But I ain't too upset. U-Joints wear out and I figured 170,000 miles was doing pretty good.

My local dealer called me out of the blue, a year or so ago, and said bring your truck in and we will replace the leaf springs.

F’ Toyota is all I can say. Mine broke just prior to the recall. Called them after recall was announced and was told yup we’ll pay you back no problem. Sent the info requested in never heard back. Call in “oh no way we’d ever pay for that”

same status for the frame recall on mine. Multiple holes, truck still hasn’t broke 12 years since manufacture date (few days short at time of this post)

It did not state anywhere in the notice that the springs had to be replaced with oem. If it did, I wouldn’t have wasted my time with gathering the relevant documents to submit.

Before the recall why would you replace your broken factory springs with the same factory springs?
    Of course we went aftermarket.
