The remedy for the squeak is in the TSB. Challenge the idiot to research it.

Should have let them. My dealer said that the undercoating that Toyota authorized will extend the frame warranty another 15 years. If you refuse, and have a problem later, then it could be on you. Toyota is being good about the frame issue, but even that will have a life.

    No.

An original letter telling us to wait for another letter, that tells us to look out for another letter. Impressive.

I called Toyota yesterday after getting the 2nd letter- got some good news for those of us who have already replaced the leafs prior to the recall like i did. They are now accepting letters & receipts for reimbursement for parts & labor. I'm faxing my stuff in tomorrow, will post once i get a response for Toyota.

It's 4 letters. They're like McDonald's game pieces. Once you collected all 4, redeem your springs at your participating Toyota dealer.... some restrictions apply.

    Just kiddin'.

Curious as to how much Toyota is willing to reimburse for aftermarket leaf packs installed + labor. Also, if the reimbursement only applies to packs purchased/installed PRIOR to receiving notification of the recall (i.e. would they still reimburse if I added new packs now since I don't want to wait another year for them?). Any idea from your convo with them?
    Thanks.

they gave no indication as to how much they will reimburse. I'd be hesitant doing anything aftermarket at this point. i'll follow up once i get an answer.

you'll need an individual case number that was provided by the toyota rep i spoke with on the phone- 888.271.9371. I'd start with a call.

then, fax to: 310.381.7756. Send receipts, a letter explaining why you replaced leafs and what you did to fix & proof of ownership. (rep will explain all this in detail)

I have a 2007 Tacoma that I purchased used in 2009. I had the TSB done that changed the rear suspension from two leaf springs to three leaf springs. I've not received the second Toyota recall (remedy) letter, but based on previous posts in this thread, I'm led to believe this latest recall's remedy will replace the previous TSB's three leaf springs with four leaf springs. Do I understand this correctly? Thanks in advance! ;-)

I tried getting mine fixed once wih no luck from Toyota. They told me the same thing, gotta wait for the next recall or safety device. So now the leafsprings are completely broken..... I called and they told me there is not enough parts in the US to do all the recalls that's why they are putting it off. They said they could fix them for around $1600!!!?!?! And then reimburse me when the recall is out but that could be two years from now... Looks like I'll be putting on aftermarket leafs and waiting for that reimbursement...

Yes.....I had leaf spring break on earlier Taco. We had a local shop that made up the springs for cars. Check to see it there are in your area. Toyota some years used more brittle spring material.
The guy at the shop apologized that they were not going to be original. I just laughed and said..... But that's why I came here. I don't want the f'n original.

That is because the want to sell you both packs, left and right.
