I was just at my dealer picking up a small part I broke and they told me they were waiting on a ton of leaf springs from Canada for the 2016 4x4 tacomas, appearently there is a recall on them for some part that holds them on and was breaking the springs. Anyone else heard this, I haven't gotten a call yet for mine?

Pretty sure something this serious would force Toyota to contact us right away. I haven't heard anything and I take anything the dealer guys say with a grain of salt.

It would be great if it was true tho, it would only add days to the cumulative 30 day repair goal i am seeking so I can qualify my truck as a lemon. Currently on day 6.

Just got my recall notice for the rear leafs. If your Taco has 3 leafs total, you are most likely eligible for the recall, but I have an 11 and only 05-11 was shown on my notice. They will snap and possibly puncture the gas tank. I installed the wheelers 1.5" progressive AAL, so I'm curious if they will still swap mine out. Appointment is set for 10AM on Wednesday, I'll report back.

Yeah, I got that so-called re-call letter (for my 2006 Taco).....It basically said "we are working on a fix"..... After 3 years, they still have not come up with a "fix"... I had a spring shop throw on an additional spring and the truck rode great...no more bottoming out...!

The 16's ride way better and have a different spring pack than the 2 gens.... I doubt there is any re-call for these.... (especially from Canada)..(I'm not sure if we even make springs up here)... hehe

In your case, TucTaco, take your receipt with you (for the springs you bought)... they should reimburse you..!

Bringing this back up. I'm thinking of buying a low mileage 05 access cab. The car fax shows a open recall on this. Does anyone know if can take it in and have the springs replaced, or is it too late?

This appears to be a Gen2 issue... you'll prob get better responses on that side. Not sure why posted in Gen3.

not sure, my 2nd gen was due to have the leafs replaced about a month ago but I traded it in before they did so I would call a dealer and ask if it would qualify. Seeing that it's a potential issue to puncture the fuel tank I'm pretty sure it would.

Yes there is no limit on a recall. As long as it wasn't already done. Which it's showing an open recall so you should be fine. Call a dealer to schedule an appointment. If you give them your vin, they can confirm the recall ahead of tine

The recalls don't expire and don't need a warranty, so if the truck you want is included it can get new springs.

Probably rename the thread to prevent further confusion.

The leaf spring campaign is only for the first half of the 2nd gen Tacomas. There is no campaign for the 2016+ Tacoma.

So far no squeaking 5 or 6 weeks now. No long term fix identified.
