Leaf spring remedy

yesterday I received a letter from Toyota stating they had a remedy and to call my local dealer for an appointment. Curious to see how it turns out.

 

I think they inspect your old leafs and if they fail they replace them. If they pass the inspection they spray them with leaf fluid film. I could be wrong.

 

I got the recall last summer 2 months after they broke and I replaced them

 

Dealer made appointment for May 6. Said must replace 3 leaf springs, which I have. On 4 leaf, they inspect then replace if necessary.

 

They will inspect for broken leafs, inspect frame? Even the 4 leaf packs are being swapped out I believe. If you have receipts for previous work done due to broken springs, Toyota will reimburse you.

 

From what I understand, if you still have the original 3 leaf springs those will definitely get replaced. If you have newer, 4 leaf you may or may not pass inspection depending on the brackets locations. The brand new ones still suck big time, mine is only a few weeks old and they still sag with 120lbs in the rear.

 

I took mine in yesterday for the inspection, I have the three leaf / three clip leaf packs, and was told they need to be replaced. Dealership said it would take about a week or two before they come in. There were about 6 other older model 2nd Gen Tacos in the service area, all there for the same thing I'm sure.

 

That's a lot better than 1 of the dealers I took mine to, they told me 6 to 8 weeks.

 

To all that replaced before recall.Call Toyota care and they will give you a case # .then you get reimbursement.Must have receipt!!! Call 1-800-331-4331.Must have vin# ready to go.Just sent my paper work in.Good luck to all.
