OK, I see then you left the 3 stock springs on and just added the 2 from the Ranger after cutting them down to the sizes you gave me.
    I will try that first.
I had Friday off but I picked up an extra shift so I'll have to wait until Sunday to work on them but at least I'll be at my parents house and I have access to more tools and a garage then.
So i just need to subtract 6.5 inches from the big sring by cutting each end 3.25". then cut the smaller one 4.5" by removing 2.25" from each end.
How did you reuse the anti squeak pads?

oh can you give me the measurements on your truck from the top lip of your rear rim to the lip of your wheel well. That way I can see where I am at now since I'm running AAL now. Then I'll get a clearer picture about reusing my shocks or not.

Here is a copy of the e-mail I sent to KYB....

I recently purchased a full set of Monomax shocks and struts for my 2004 Toyota Tacoma Regular cab PreRunner. For the rear I chose P/N 565085 as it is listed as working on 0-2" lift. I added a 1.5" add-a-leaf to my truck last year. However, The PreRunner is side specific and you have the same P/N shocks for both sides. My driver side fits great and has at least 3" of travel before it fully extends. However, the Passenger side has only 1" of travel. I took the measurements of my mounting point for that side and it is 20".
My question to you is where do I even begin researching your Monomax brand to figure out which Shock is a better fit for my application? I want the same 3" of travel or more that my driver side has. Ideally I'm looking to go a full 3" of lift on the rear of the truck. I want to stay with the Monomax because I love the handling the Monomax provides.

    Here is their reply....

Thank you for choosing KYB America for your suspension needs. Is this vehicle 2WD or 4WD?

And this is what I wrote back.....

It's the PreRunner which is 2wd but is built on the 4wd 6 lug frame and suspension. My driver side mount to mount measurement reads 16" and the passenger side is 20". All PreRunners and 4wd run side specific shocks and all other manufacturers have 2 separate P/N for them but KYB only has 1 P/N. That's why my short driver side fits but the longer passenger isn't giving me enough travel. thanks for the support!

So, it's a waiting game until they can find an answer for me..... Hopefully it's soon.

Just took the measurements on the rear of my truck. I have just a little over 1/4 tank of gas. Trailer hitch, bike rack (30lbs), and the set of Dakota leafs at about 45lbs each either attached to the truck or lying in the bed. I have 15-1/4" on the driver side and 15" on the passenger side. Again I am taking the measurements from the top lip of the wheel to the lip of the wheel well.

I just read that a chop saw works great at cutting leafs. My dad has a 10" chop saw. So I'll just get a metal cutting blade for it and see how that works.

Chop saw does work great...but watch out for too much heat.

Hey Terry as long as you end up with the measurements I gave you & the
leaf lengths are equal distance from spring hole (center) your good to go...

Wow, I hope they give you some kind of info, from thier first reply doesn't sound like they are up to date with what goes with what, (they should've known what a "Prerunner" is, makes me a little suspect.

& as far as the anti squeak pads go, I used an old tire off of a wheel barrow (crazy outside the box again I know..) & I used some tin snips to cut them into 2" squares, lift the body (not frame) up to take weight off springs & used a pry bar to open leaf ends ,shoot a little spray glue on them , put into place, lower body down, done, good to go & quiet ...:D

Here is the reply e-mail I just recieved from KYB.....

Good afternoon Terry, unfortunally we don’t have shock on Monomax that is longer than 565085 or for a 3” lift on that vehicle, having a shock ride height of 20” inches would require to use a shock with an extended length approximately around 24 “from eyelet to eyelet, and because of the 19 mm ID of the eyelet, we would not have another part to offer you.

    We apologize for the inconvenience.

    Tech support

Well......sounds like I'll be saving up for some Billies! Now just need to know which ones to get....Mine as well get the fronts too......Good God all mighty I just emptied my bank account for those things....

Well, I'll start working on cutting Sunday and might start installing the leafs on Monday?
Doug can you see what measurements you have from shock mount to shock mount. If it's more than what I have then I'm not even going to put them on until I get a new set of shocks.

Yeah that def. sucks, its kinda pointless to measure though (unless your just curious, but hey I'll do it anyway for ya) You'll probably want the 5150's (or is it 5160's now?) You should get your cuts done & prep for adding to your springs but obliviously don't install till you have the right extended shock, back in a bit with your specs....

Ok, given the fact that I measured without being on level ground, I've got roughly 21" eye 2 eye ....

OK, yep you are a little higher up than I am. Thanks for doing that for me. heck yes I'm all set to cut and paint.
I guess now I need to start shopping around for the shocks.

I think I may just end up (for now anyway) installing only the 40.5" leaf and staying with my KYB. This way I get those ugly ass AAL's off of there and sell them along with the longer shackle kit I have laying around. Recoup my cash and go from there.
Also may just remove the 3" spacers off of the front too. Then just use the 5100 fronts for the lift.

Never ,ever mention the "S" word again !!:eek: (spacers) :Dj/k

Yeah you really should move in that direction as soon as you can afford it,(5100 adjustables) for the front, now do you want the standard 5100's for front or do you want the 5 settings 1st gen Tundra 5100's ? (thats what I have on mine, only one in this entire forum that does) price is the same, anyway its something to consider when your wallet is ready to unload again...:D

P.S. You'll love the ride so much better when the spacers are gone

LOL!!!! Yep, I have had them "S" word thins on my truck since 2005!!!!

Hell, if I'm going to buy the 5100's I just as well make them the tundra 5 setting ones!

I Think I'll just leave the set-up I have alone instead of taking it out. I like to do things 2 or 3 times! I want to see what it will feel like to sit on my hands and wait it out and do everything once!

Well, my dad has a miter saw and not a chop. Which means no bueno!

Since money is tight I'm getting an angle grinder from harbor freight and then a set of RC9000 p/n 9132 for 1/2 the cost of 5100's. Since I really never go offroading it ought to do.

So I guess this weekend I'll just knock the rust off of the leafs and paint them.
