ok, just ordered the shocks from rough country. The extended length is 24.5" so I'm good there. And since my CC was out I ordered the pins as well from toytec.
Waiting to head out to Modesto to get the angle grinder. I have a coupon from a wood working magazine. Their cheap angle grinder is only $9.95!!!!! Read the reviews and sounds like its all I'll need for this project. Pick up a few cutoff wheels and I'm getting to work on these!!!

OK, I'm back from Modesto with a $9.95 angle grinder, 10 pk of cut off wheels a 3/8" breaker bar and a grease gun all for under $38.
I'm putting my safety glasses on and starting to perform surgery!!!!!

OK! Took my measurements. 47.25". Did my math to get to the 40.5". Made my marks on both ends and once I got over the fear of the disc exploding in my face I made the first 2 cuts. Took my measurements again and ended up with 40.20". Oh well, close enough for someone that hasn't used a grinder before!
Took care of the second one and got started with the small leafs. Made my measurements and cut those suckers off! These came out a lot closer to the 33.5". Got the flap out and sanded the rust off and sprayed a heavy ugly coat of black on them. Damn wind is too strong to paint today!

That stupid little $9.95 grinder worked awesome!!!!!

I saved the anti squeak pads that where on them. Just need to cut the nipples off of them that use to hold them on and find a glue to install them back on. as for now the leafs are clean and sitting in the closet. The pins have shipped. Waiting for email saying the shocks are on their way!

just a small update. Working on installing the pads on the leafs. I'm using weatherstrip adhesive but right now I have my doubts.....
Also, about working with KYB on the specs for my monomaxs. The last email I shot to them I asked about how to get a refund since they had the shocks listed for 2" lift and they barley fit the 1.5 AAL lift on the passenger side. Also mentioned to them that most other shocks come in 2 different sizes for the Tacoma. Well, guess what? They haven't written back. Weird how when it was just a simple question they wrote back really quickly and now it's been 2 days.....Anyway, done with them for now.

Keep up the great work. Hope to have your old AAL, for my poor leafs soon. :D, It sure would be better than a block.

LOL! Thanks man! You will find the AAL will handle a lot more weight than the stock leafs!

All I used was some spray glue , set the pads an inch or so from the end of each leaf your putting pads on. The weight & compression of your springs will hold in place...;)

Yeah, screw those guys they don't know shit apparently....:mad::(
