Just to add a little to the story. I get to work and after I am there my manager asks me to come in on Wednesday as well for a 1 time only training!
I threw my arms in the air and was like, what the hell! That would be day 7 in a row for me (which is fine) but that is also the ONLY day the AMGEN will be in town and she knows how much I love cycling! So she was like ok ok I'll figure something out.
LOL, anyhow, go figure, when you plan to work on the truck it seems the world needs your full attention instead. Oh, BTW, ordered the 883's from wheeler's today.

OK, OK here it is the moment we have all been waiting for! At least I've been waiting for....
I have finally installed my OMD mod and I gained 2" over what my AAL had given me. I took before and after measurements and from the top of the wheel (not the tire) to the bottom of the wheel well lip was 15" with the AAL and now I am an even 17"!!!
I decided against using my overloads because there just didn't appear to be enough threads on my U-bolts to do it and I'm glad I didn't as that would have gotten another 1" of lift.
There was no way I was going to be able to reuse my old shocks as the shock mount to mount was 24" at full droop. The new shocks are 26.85" fully extended so they are perfect.
The only thing I didn't like was the new leafs rest on the rivet on the leaf clamp. Doug does that seem right?

Going to use my new KYB Monomax. I think they should work fine as they are made with a 46mm piston and mono body.

All I can say is .........:yay::yay::yay::yay::yay:

So you gained 2" over what the AAL gave, so is it safe to say that you got an actual 3" lift over stock ?? Beautiful arc Terry !! & yeah mine ended up on the same place as that damned rivet, I threw a little rubber anti squeek pad there for good measure, you now drive a stink bug !!!

Now you need to romp them a little & see for yourself what a difference it makes, they may settle a little but not much if any.

Do this bro' & like I told RecklessTaco (Matt) give me feedback good, bad, whatever your opinion is , it matters to me & if mostly positive, would you recommend this MOD to others.

Congratulations Terry, you have just done a true build......:D

Thanks guys! Doug, Anthony I have only driven it around the parking garage and from what I can tell so far is that they don't move much. All the tools, spare leafs, cinder block and all the bed never moved! I think when I jumped in the bed it may have moved 1/2" or so? I was going Oh Shit! at first cause I thought there is no way I'm going to like this ride. But there are a few expansion joints and stuff in the garage and the truck drove right over them as smooth as butter.
The morning I will be able to tell more when I drop my niece off at school.
Hard to believe that the front is lifted 3" with my back up that high. Oh, Doug I think I got a 3.5" to 4" lift over stock. The AAL was 1.5" to 2" over stock and I'm another 2" over that now. I still have my 1.5" eshackles if I felt so compelled! Don't think that will happen though! LOL
Now I'm waiting for my 883 I ordered from Wheeler's to get here!

I've gotten a better idea on how she'll ride now that I drove around town for a few miles. The first thing I noticed was how the truck doesn't come off of the speed bump outside the condo with a "thud". It just went over it and that was it. No noise or bounce.
Streets felt pretty much the same as always. I hit a few bumps just to see how they felt and while the front made it's usual clunk and drop the rear just rode over them without much of anything.
Hard for me to put into words. I suppose it's like the rear is now working the way a truck ought to work and now I've noticed the short comings of the stock set up.
    great mod!

OK, I drove to Livermore today to watch the bike race and I found a nice empty lot that was about as rough as if it where used to farm on.
after the race went by I tore straight across it at 25 mph tires spinning and all and when I got to the street I just nailed it and jumped the curb.
Truck felt great! The backend just soaked it all up while the front was bouncing a lot.
Also no more squeak squeak coming from the leaf pack anymore!

Thanks man, really hoping that the 883 balance it out. Stock springs aren't as firm as what I'm running out back.
