Leaf springs

What do you guys recommend Archive or Deaver ? I am currently running the OME dakars and I am not a fan the squeak has been annoying since about a month into owning them. Thanks in advance for the input.

 

If the springs suit you ride and capacity wise, I'd just focus on solving the squeak.

There are several methods that have been successful for folks.

 

Needle attachment on the grease gun .Get between the individual leafs . Then spray down with a rust prevention spray of your choice ! No squeak

 

Well I am also going to an HD spring due to getting a HC rear bumper

 

I have the medium duty DAKAR and added the extra leaf to make them HD . I also added the Timbren SES bump stops . Makes a big difference.

 

Moving to HD leafs is kinda overkill for just a bumper. You carry any other constant load in the bed? Stick with what you got if it fits your needs. If it's just squeaking that's bothering you....get rid of the squeak. More noise goes hand in hand with lifting a tacoma. Get used to the extra maintenance.

 

I also have a truck cap on the truck all the time.

 

Look at ICON on Amazon. Currently (as of this post) ~$255 with AAL. 2 needed.

 

Dobinsons FTW. I have their 111 mid. on my A/C so far no squeeks.

 

I had Dakar HD and the squeaks drone me a bit nuts too. There’s plenty of other things I “deal with” but this isn’t one of them.

After a few years I went with the Deaver stage 2. But I did this when pulling my BP51’s and going to Fox 2.5 elites. Far more happy with this. I do have Archive hammer hangers and greasable bolt for fronts to cut down on noise from bushings.

I do have a shell and probably 300lbs consistent load back there.

They all squeak. It's a characteristic of leaf spring design - many pieces of metal moving against metal, made worse once dirt gets in. Put in plastic liners suggested by @soggyBottom and squeaks will be gone. I've been running liners for 4 years with no squeaking.

I've been happy with my Icon RXT leafs. Lifted 4.3" and no driveline vibes, now 4.0" with a 130lb Mobtown bumper.

 

Have had the exact springs for a year on my regular cab, they're great. Quiet. Except now I'm getting a clunk passenger rear. Might be a bushing or shock, going to inspect today, but no squeaks!

 

Do this.

I did this from day one with my dakar mediums. Not a single squeak in 70k miles on that pack when I had it on the truck.

 

Got a complete Dobinsons front and rear shocks included and went with spc uca, and put in the greasable bolts,new shackles, new bushings, everything ECGS .

 

After breaking my OEM on the trail..
Got a newer OEM pack from Craig's for cheap, split them and added a leaf and the overload from a Chevy. Added some garden edging I had around to isolate the leaves from one another and combined it with a set of used Icon's. Said a prayer and the damn thing sat perfectly. After lots of miles and several adventure trips with some hitting the rocks pretty hard I managed to bust one of the Icons. Now ready to cut everything off, relocate the shocks with longer Kings but haven't decided on the springs yet.

Chevy would be cheap and flexy since I'm welding already or I just buy your Dakars and add the Hammer Hangars.

You sure you want to just go and "buy" springs?

 

My Deaver's have performed great for me over the years.

 

Jack the truck up and spray fluid film in between the leaves.

 

Adding a swingout bumper can easily add 400 lbs or more to the rear axle weight because it is an overhung load, which transfers weight off the front axle to the rear axle.

Archive springs are made in USA with US steel, tested for 2 years and fix the issues so common with other brand springs.
Archive springs beat the best springs time after time when directly compared back to back.
