leaf under axle to leaf above axle... help??

    im thinking about moving the spring above axle on my 5lug.... except for the bump stop... im noting seeing much differance.. is there???

    You'll get about 5" of lift (height of the axle tube approx).

    And with 5" of lift, you'll have all sorts of other things to change.

    theyre's a thread over at custom tacos on this...it supposedly would only yield about 3" of lift...

    which still would be alot for our 5 lugs....

    honestly, i dont see why this would be THAT hard to pull off

    you could always just get the pre-runner hardware, like the whole shock mount axle thing (i dont know what the hell its called, but the part that is on the botom of the axle supporting it with the shock mount and all) and the U-bolts meant for leaf over axle....theyre completley different, 5 lugs have the more U shaped ones that are parallel to the leafs while the 6 lugs have U bolts that have the U perpendicalar to the leafs with a U shape that is conformed to the leafs and not the axle

    Not that you'd be fixing your truck - but you would have A LOT of work to do to get it where it is now (controllability, drivability, etc).

    Flipping the leaf springs to the top sounds easy enough - some spring perches, welding...sounds easy.

    But people tend to forget about the OTHER stuff that's involved - and I can only really comment on the rear (driveline issues, shock length, brake lines, etc). The front? Well.....steering, allignment, etc.

    forgot about longer brake lines......and id definatly need a diff drop front and rear axledrop to save the ujoints..

    If your truck is a 2 wheel drive, no diff or axels in the front to drop.
