At this point in time I'd definitely be looking for advice from a lawyer just so I didn't get hung out to dry - no pun intended. My children's health is paramount and if it was compromised by Toyota's negligence (leaking light fixture) then they should pay to remediate any health issues that develop due to the mold.

Keep Pushing. I have worked in customer service all my life. When something like this happens where it is the company's fault, resolution from management is always to offer the least expensive solution first. 75% of people are going to accept this first offer. Kindly keep pushing back until they buy back your vehicle.

I would also recommend at least speaking to a lawyer to know what you are entitled under the law. I recommend this even more because you and your family's health are involved. You may not need to go the lawyer route but being prepared and knowledgable will benefit you while playing defense. Stay polite and firm and don't lose your cool.

Since the holidays are basically over, I would recommend starting to gently push for an answer by asking for updates on a regular basis. One thing I always communicated to management while on the front lines with a disgruntled customer is the fact that the customer is very concerned/ upset, knowledgeable, not taking an easy no and is asking for daily updates. This gentle bothering becomes a hassle for the employees which will in turn actually make them fight for you since they will tire from your daily check-ins. I would also recommend that every time they bring up a resolution that is not your desired outcome you become slightly more forceful and reiterate the only outcome that you will accept. If they start giving you the run-around, that is where you bring in your rights and your lawyer.

    Keep us updated.

Forgot: DOCUMENT EVERY INTERACTION! Names, dates, who said what, the number you called, who called you from where, who they said, said what. When they use general terms like "corporate said" ask for clarification. Who said that at corporate, when did they say this? "Management said," Who in management said this?

Some people with compromised immune systems are very susceptible to certain types of mold. I know a couple of people who were hospitalized after exposure to mold. It shouldn’t be trivialized, as it can be deadly.

Valley fever - a fun lung fungus people get when breathing wind blown dust out here in the southwestern desert. Most people are asymptomatic, but others experience severe respiratory illness. If women get it during pregnancy, it can cause developmental issues and even abortive results for the fetus. Mold is bad stuff!

Man, that's ridiculous if it takes them that long to get back to you.

The did get back to me at one point, it’s somewhere in this thread, with the recommendation to clean treat and replace what was needed.i politely declined and the guy from the service department literally said “ I don’t blame you, i’d Be doing the exact same thing” so no it’s climbing it’s way up the whatever ladder I guess ?? Just super disappointed as I miss having a truck.

I mean frankly, that is unacceptable. I think you need to be calling the dealership daily asking for an update. Otherwise, you, your truck and the mold are really just being shelved until someone is bored.

    Update:

Dealer just called and informed me that literally everything in the truck is going to be replaced, headliner, door liners seats, carpet, sound deadening, even the speakers... the dash won’t be replaced because it wasn’t “wet” I was told that Toyota is going to call serve pro for treatment. I also informed the service manager that I’ve lost all faith in the truck, and I do not believe that the mold spores will be removed from the truck.. so now I just wait some more.

I'd tell them you want a guarantee mold will not come back. And if they give you that I'd bring up your previous conversation with mold abatement specialists where they said they can't.

New interior is great for trade in
    Good luck going forward.

The carfax stating the mold problem probably wont be though. I'm curious how that changes the trade in value.

Sucks to make it some other guys problem later, but I might do the same if that was the ultimate outcome

But they aren't taking out the dash etc. I'd agree with you if they totally gutted the interior.

Hmm, if this is all they are willing to do maybe just let them and then trade it in. Maybe make the decision after you talk to a lawyer. Honestly, it may be all easier to trade it in as long as you don't have negative equity or it is not going to hurt you financially.

Good luck with the outcome of this.

Were any of the mold samples looked at in a lab to determine how harmful it really is?
