It is Toyota’s fault they have a crappy gasket design allowing water to leak into a fairly new vehicle.
But yeah they prob aren’t going to do much.

We will see, i will play nice at first, then if I have to I’ll get a attorney involved. I’m not going to take a 34k loss for a design flaw that should have been corrected. I have no idea how long the leak has been going on. To be fair I live in Oregon.... it’s wet.... mold moves fast

Do you have towing with your insurance policy? If you don’t pay to have it towed.

Doesn’t matter where you live. Toyota knee about this problem and did nothing to contact you to get it fixed.

5 gallons of gasoline and an empty parking lot. Call your insurance and tell them you found your car on fire. Lol

Are you still under Toyota Care with free dealership towing?

You should call the dealership and explain the situation and ask that they complementary tow it as you can't be inside that mess. Make sure you document everything on your end before taking it to the dealership, just to make sure you're covered in case anything goes sideways.

Give the dealership/Toyota a chance to make things good. Make sure you have documented the extent while it's in your hands. Make sure you make your needs clear with them as they may try to fix/clean and move on. If things fall through your insurance company is your line of defense and they will help you move forward.

I would not do anything with it until the dealership has seen it ! Do not start taking it apart let the dealer and your insurance handle it! If the dealer thinks or can prove you have done something your screwed!

I had the cargo light leak into my headliner caught it early took it to dealer they took it right in no questions . They told me its a known issue the cargo lights were over tightened at the factory causing seal to fail and leak.

If it was mine I’d report to insurance and let them handle it through Toyota or otherwise.
That’s what insurance is for and what they’re paid to do on your behalf.

It's toyota's fault it leaked. It's not toyota's fault the car was let to sit in a damp environment making the problem 1000x worse. Not blaming OP, but that's what toyota is gonna say.

Counter that with if it didnt leak in the first place this wouldnt be a problem. I've owned many cars in the past and none of them I had to worry about water leaking into the cabin. Toyota cant put the blame on the consumer for failing to check their vehicle everyday if there is water intrusion. Come on now.

if it were me I would get corporate involved from the start. send pictures and voice your concerns about your family's health. the best thing that could happen to that truck is to be stripped and used for toyota technician training. as a precaution take a sample of the mold and keep it in a jar in case it needs to be tested later.
