That will only work if the battery is under warranty. I’m
I would go to like an autozone and get a bottle of gunk degreaser.

Let the engine bay cool fully and spray it all over and let it hang out for a few minutes (don’t leave it there long enough to dry).
Hose it out and get yourself some car wash soap and warm water with a long soft bristled brush. Dip the brush in the water and start cleaning every nook and cranny.
    Rinse well and dry.

The painted metal shelf that holds the battery, if thats rusted I would be wire brushing it, hitting it with a rust coverter and respraying it with maybe a primer or you can get a paint matched paint. Its under the hood so you don’t see it.

If you want you can buy a plastic and rubber dressing to treat all of your rubbers and plastics. This helps keep things from cracking and getting eaten up from salt.

You qualify for battery replacement under warranty if they test it and it fails. Otherwise, clean it up and hope it fails before your warranty expires.

I’d be monitoring for the next group buy by @ramonortiz55 for a Northstar battery

    Let’s Go :D

I just monitor my battery terminals. If they are showing signs of corrosion then its time to kick the battery to the curb. All batteries leak gas as they age, its an easy indicator to tell you to replacd it before it dies.
I typically don’t disconnect the battery to clean the terminals except when I change the battery.

I keep my engine bay very clean (detailer) so my terminals get cleaned as I go.

Google battery cleaning. Bunch of info out there. Yes, disconnect both cables. There is a tool you can get from many places to scrub the terminals and cable ends to get a clean connection. The only concern is that be careful with tools around the battery. Accidental contact between + and chassis (or - terminal) can be dangerous. Read up on it.

Yes, and get a wire brush that can clean the inside bore of the clamps. Corrosion likes to hang out in there.

Warranty for sure. The dealership replaced the 18 month old battery on my previous 2012 PreRunner under warranty. It had way less corrosion than is showing on yours. They never batted an eye. Just took one look and snap, had a new battery.

Replace it with an AGM battery and send the bill to Toyota

That is what happens when the truck goes off-roading. all the battery acid sloshes around and leaks out of the caps and on to the terminals.

If you don't like it I suggest doing a search on an AGM battery as they do not have this issue.

    Ask me how I know.

do you have a can of coke? Brand name cocacola. pour it on the corrosion and it will eat it up. rinse with water. Unplug the terminals, clean them with a terminal cleaner. Put the battery terminal grease on the connectors. and reconnect it.

Kinda hard to explain without showing you. look at youtube and you will see what everyone is talking about. I always youtube or google before asking for help. and then i usually don't have to ask for help after that.

Do you drive in areas that use road salt in the winter? That looks like more than just battery acid corrosion.

Thats not acid, its anti corrosion, try cleaning the battery up ever so often.you need to service/clean them like everything else on your truck.

Same here. Very light offroading. I have 24k miles on the truck and have had to clean up terminals twice as well as top off the battery with distilled water. AGM battery will be next.
