Dealership inspection scheduled for tomorrow. Hasn't had an oil change yet, so nothing has been fiddled with since it left the factory. Never thought I'd have this issue.

Found a puddle on clean garage floor.

Hard to see, but there is oil on the crossmember.

Oil on two pan bolts and around inspection plate.

What is the oil change interval on a 3rd gen? How low does the oil look on the dipstick?

Hopefully just a sloppy oil fill at the dealer. Good luck.

Check valve covers to see if there's oil coming from the camshaft position sensors.

To add to this, check the valve cover on the rear passenger side. That's where mine leaks.

You guys are sharp. Dealer said they found oil on engine block. They are keeping it overnight to dye the oil and run the motor to see where it's coming from. Now I drive a Corrolla :(

Mine did it at 300 miles on my 2017 and it was the passenger side cam post sensor , I have 600 now keep your fingers crossed, there was nothing like sitting at a red light and tons of smoke rolling out from the passengers side front wheel Well

It's really easy to identify if it's the cam sensors. Just pop the hood and look on either side of the valve cover for a sensor that looks like this. Is there oil on it? If so, source identified. There are a few folks experiencing a leak and Toyota is aware of it and has issued steps to the dealers to fix it. Before you have them tear it all apart, I would gently suggest they look for this.

It's actually the cam cap that the bolt threads into that had a defect and the oil wicks up the threads, according to what I've read Toyota is telling their techs, and having them order new cam caps. Sounds like they patched up yours with thread Sealant, but hopefully it lasts.

Just put some KO2s on that Corolla. You won't even want your truck back.:crapstorm:

All kidding aside I have 7,900 miles and I am waiting for this to happen or my CPS to fail. Likely at the most inconvenient time possible.

Suspension, racks, tune, bed, lights. See build thread.
And here I am waiting possibly a month to get a new Cam Cradle, then engine disassembly, to fix my same exact leak.

Granted this is an older Corolla, but being a self-taught Internet Engineer, I'm betting the same lifting strategy should work.

Hockey puck spacers and you can fit 33's

    OP, sorry about your leak.

At least it happened early and you can get it resolved quickly.

Lol, dealer said they couldn't find the leak. Asked me to drive it until the 10k service and they'll check again since the oil is dyed.

Picking up in 30mins. If I pop the hood and find oil on the cam sensor/valve cover, I'm gonna politely go postal on these clowns.

That sucks that they claim they can't find a leak.
