    yes and no.

yes because in my case I enjoy working on my truck, I have very serious issues trusting people that I do not know and I don’t want to pay for it.

no: if I had a mechanic that I could trust, maybe when I get older I will bring truck for oil change but for now it is not the case.

Yeah looks like it is missing crush washer. Hope the good ol boys at the oil change place didn’t over torque the drain plug.

Call and have them install new one. Refill oil.

Did you use torque wrench to check for tightness?

No, I don't have a torque wrench. I just made sure it wasn't super loose.

    If you are quick.

Have a new crush washer ready. On a COLD engine, remove the plug and stick your thumb in the hole. Use the other hand to install the crush washer onto the plug. Reinstall the plug.

    You need to be quick.

Yes, you will lose a bit of oil, likely ounces not quarts. This little amount can easily be made up assuming you can read the dipstick.

    Good Luck

Or you can use the old...ShopVac-jammed-in-the-oil-filler-neck....method. Puts a vacuum on the oil so it doesn’t run out the drain plug as fast as normal.
    I can confirm, it works.

rotated tires changed oil threw out the old air freshener.
BigTallDave has the easy answer to staying clean. Just have the washer handi. No rush with the vacuum method. One stage noisy though.

I would borrow or buy a torque wrench. Oil pan drain plug only gets 29 or 30ft lb. Like other have said, likely a bad or missing crush washer.

Drain into clean container. Replace crush washer. Refill. Done.

It’s amazing how a simple job like that can get all fudged up. They most likely left the old washer in place, or stripped the threads, or may if you take it back as they over-tighten to try and stop the leak.

Either way, if you’re able and willing to check it yourself, that would be my first choice.

    Good luck

Since they appear to have forgotten the crush washer, also check your skid plate bolts to make sure the threads are not stripped. Speaking from experience, I can tell you the FREE Toyota oil change at 20K was not worth the price.

I have similar issue, i think mine is because of gasket thought. Its not leaking a lot, just bolt itself seems to have some oil. Will it go 5K miles? or should I drain it and refill with new gasket and washer now.

Just keep checking level until your next oil change. If it gets too low change it early with new gasket/plug if necessary

After running engine for like 10 mins, i turned it off. Leaking started 20 mins after, i ordered the gaskets already, i am thinking to unscrew bolt halfway, and make a cut in gasket and put it like that until next oil change.
