So this morning as I walked to my car, I noticed a little puddle of oil under my truck, about the size of a softball. Looked underneath and noticed that the xxxxx (help me fill in the blank) is leaking. Not sure what kind of oil it is, smells like regular engine oil, but I could be wrong. Is it the Transmission pan? I work on motorcycles, but have little experience with cars/trucks.

Haven't done anything crazy in the truck recently, no off-roading or anything. I did Haul a couple dirtbikes up a some fairly steep hills in 106+ degree weather over the weekend, but thats the only thing I can think of.

So first, what is the part thats leaking? I am going to check the nuts tonight and make sure they are all snug. Clean it up, and see if the leak continues. If it does, is it pretty easy to replace the old gasket, and add some threebond?

    Thanks for the help

Looks like the transmission pan to me. Look on the passenger side as well and see if the the oil cooler lines are possibly leaking as well. Should be 2 of them, out and return.

It will leak while it is running even at idle usually.

Transmission pan. Good time to do the filter and clean fluid.

Thanks guys. I checked again today, and there was no puddle over the past 24hrs. I checked the Oil level, while the truck was cold, and it went up to the first twist in the dip stick.

looks like someone put gasket goop on the pan already (orange stuff) so maybe they reused the old gasket after pulling the pan.

main thing is oil is going to be black or dark brown and feel slimey and smell like oil and tranny fluid is going to be red or redish brown and smell burnt and feel less slippery then oil.

if you over filled the tranny, then it may have leaked out the dip stick o-ring until it was below that level
