Awesome! I just had my truck in last week and they informed me that there is a recall for my 3rd brake light. However, I've had zero leak issues, so I probably won't let them mess with it, as it could possibly cause one.

The recall expires in 2025, so I've got time to sort it out.

I have to ask…..so can you install an aftermarket roof rack now and point a leak back to the 3rd brake light?

Adding a roof rack when properly done adds zero impact to an existing leak elsewhere. I don’t see the problem with that. Having said that I’m outta here have fun and good luck with your third brake light fix.

Therein lies the issue. All they have to say is it wasn't properly installed. The burden of proof will be on OP, as he had an issue, then ignored it, but proceeded to modify a nearby area.

Regardless of whether we agree, it has nothing to do with the leak, the dealership will likely take a conservative approach... it's how they do business.

Also, I don't think the recall applies to AC's. I'm also unfamiliar with a TSB for AC's. The burden of proof will probably fall on OP.

Sorry, I'll quit pulling you back in.

Good I’m taking mine in Friday on recall notice and included service. They better just change the light fixture, oil and filter. No water intrusion for me.

So, my '20 DCLB should be okay? No leaks yet but, it's going in for service and don't know if I should ask about it?
Want to be sure before I install a roof rack!:rofl::rofl::rofl:

You can do a test. Just take a sponge and squeeze is over the brake light. If its bad youll have large anounts of water rinning in your truck. From what i remember the tsb said 16-19 DC's. It only took 4 years but toyota finally got the memo that they needed to fix this issue. You should be good though.

My 19 is going in today for recall and oil change.
I took mine in today, but they wouldn’t do it because my topper. Told them they could slide it back, but they declined. Talked to the manager after they fuked up a few things on my 2 year service and he decided they would do the light. Not sure I want them doing it since it’s not leaking, but don’t want to waste the goodwill gesture and get it done before it fails.
