Had the truck parked while away for the weekend. Noticed this morning that the driver side rear shock is leaking. Had an add leaf installed when I put in the levelling kit. Would this be the cause?

Addaleaf should not have caused that. Not unless shock was over extended. But you do need a new shock now. That one is toast.

I will say that the stock shock limits the range of droop in the rear, so like most of us with lifts you may be fulling extending that shock when off-roading. So maybe.... sometimes the seals give- mileage may very. I also developed a rear shock leak on a bilstein so it is a good time to be looking at getting a shock back there that is longer than the OEM unit anyway.

I don’t imagine this would be eligible for warranty, so what shocks would you recommend, Bilstein’s?

Bilstein 5100s would be the most economical route to go. Not bad on the wallet, does exactly what it's supposed to.

Might as well go 5100. Same as the stock OR shocks, only they have an inch or so more travel, which would be recommended with the AAL.

5100’s are a bit larger than the stock Bilsteins while providing a firmer ride with less lean and roll in curves.

If you raised the rear more than an inch that will destroy the shock.

My vote. Bilstein 5100. You’ll love them. Real easy to install.

5160’s work well with 1.5 to 2 inches of lift in the rear with stock springs.

An AAL would not cause that. Just bad luck.

I've got stock off road shocks taking up space in my shed if you're interested

Stock Bilsteins are 4600, the 5100s are larger and an upgrade. I would also go for the 5160s. They are an upgraded 5100, and only a few bucks more.

Guess I should have been more clear. They're the same in terms of valving and gas pressure, on the rear they will ride the same as stock. They are slightly larger on the external measurement, I'm unsure if the internal cavity is the same or larger. In the OPs case, 4600s are not his stock shock, he has the Hitachis, which IMO aren't as nice the 4600s. A 5100 as I stated would be a good consideration, but it's not required for the conditions he described. 5160s are nice, but at 2x the price of the 5100 at around $370 vs $160, might not be a few bucks for everyone. 5160s would be unnecessary for a "pavement princess".

I drove my dad's second gen with 4600s and they werent bad, but he upgraded to 5100s. The 4600s on my third gen are not the same. valving or gas pressure is way different, they are super soft.

But my mistake, I didn't realize the 5100s and 5160s were so different in price.
