If you have a sunroof, there is a small tray the runs the width of the vehicle toward the rear of the sunroof and between the sunroof and the headliner. This tray seems to flow down between the front and rear doors.

I took my TRD OR DCSB in this morning because I noticed a few drops of water pooling in that tray during rain or going through a car wash.

Luckily, it was raining when I took it in so they could immediately feel the water on the tray, especially toward the driver's side.

Just got a call from the dealership letting me know that they looked up a schematic and it shows that there are tubes that collect that water and drain it out of the bottom of the truck.

I told them I wanted to see the schematic and she said she'd show it to me when I got there.

Anyone else think this is a bit odd?

This is normal for cars with sunroofs. You simply can't guarantee a perfect weather seal on a horizontal opening. Water will pool over the gasket in places, especially when parked and when water pools it will find a way past even the most well sealed openings. Having the tray to catch what little water gets through and feed it back out of the vehicle through drain tubes is the best solution. If the roof isn't sealing properly and you're seeing a lot of water, that's an issue. Trace amounts of water after a heavy rain is no big deal. The bigger issue is keeping the drains clear because you don't want water to start pooling excessively in the tray. Not parking under trees with the roof open in the fall is a start, ask me how I know...

Used to do that with sailboats. It's going to get some water inside. It's what you do with it that matters.

All sunroofs have drains, none are 100% water tight. You have 4 drain holes and 4 tubes on all sunroofs.

Thanks. I guess I've never had a vehicle where you could actually reach in there and feel the water.

Brand new to the forum... so bear with me.

I have a 2006 DoubleCab with a sagging headliner. I plan to remove it (myself) and repair... either repair it myself or pay someone who is qualified :) I'll also clean the sunroof drains. I found a really good how-to for removing... except my truck has a sunroof and the how-to vid did not. Is there a big difference in removing the headliner with a sunroof? I tried searching for a post that contained that pic... but was unable to find it (likely user error). Thanks for any input!

Most leaks from sunroof are because the tray drain holes get plugged. Also seen the tubes get clogged and other things too, although not as common. Seen the hoses disconnect up at the top as well. Any vehicle with a sunroof has a lot greater risk for a water leak.

Definitely 3rd party. Used to work with a guy that had one on an early 2nd gen AC. Solid install, looked factory too.

Yeah, this looks factory, but I guess it is aftermarket. It has the sun screen (sliding cover) that matches the headliner... they matched it perfectly. Here is a pic of the outside (from the dealer)... I don't have any from the inside yet...

    Lots baby!
I parked a sunroof car on a steep incline and it pissed down rain. This meant only 2 drain lines would take the water away.

In this case it was not enough drain and I got a little water in the car.
