Bought a 2016 Tacoma about 6 weeks ago. Been in the dealer 4 times for the sunroof leaking.

Wasn't this an issue a few people had when the '16 first came out, but was solved pretty easily? I remember it being a super easy fix but can't remember exactly what it was. OP should do a search to find that thread. I remember seeing it like late last year if I remember correctly.

There is something the dealer was suppose to do to the sun roof when the truck was delivered. Ask the dealer if the truck was prep before provided to the customer. You should also have received a preparation checklist from the dealer when you took ownership.

It is likely the drain tubes either improperly connected or plugged with something. Should be a very easy fix for the dealership. No idea why it would take 4 tries to get it right.

Ok, until I washed the truck two days ago I haven't had this issue.
I washed the roof from the bed of the truck with a pretty close spray.
Passing the sunroof seal along the back of the sunroof It appears there is a decent leak from the back seal.
I understand water doesn't typically travel from the back to the front so maybe overlooked from design/factory?

I believe it had something to do with some bolts needing to be tightened down during the prep process.

Mike33OR had the same problem back in September of 2015

"Also since the day I drove it home I have heard a strange thumping sound in the roof area 3-4 times. As if someone is bouncing a tennis ball on the roof. It finally dawned on me to check the sunroof and sure enough it doesn’t close tight. You can pivot it by either pushing up on the front of the sunroof or the rear. Not good! It will be going back tomorrow to get that fixed"

"I had been hearing a thumping coming from the roof area. I finally inspected the sunroof. I found that the sunroof would not stay closed all the way. It would “fall" away from the roof line about ½”. Dealer fixed it in 2 minutes. Some sort of initialization procedure they forgot to do."

Same issue here. Dealer told me the sunroofs weren't designed for high pressure car washes

    So had mine fixed.
Haven't gone to car wash to test yet tho.
My service manager said they spoke with corporate and the timing is slightly off.
Also in for tranny fluid check, u-joint zerks and u-bolt tightening.
All good but said the tranny was actually a little over not under...
And best of all!! No hassle!
Nice having a good relationship with your dealer.

    Hell man...
If you look at that first pic of yours.... it looks like your Tacoma was just born...Look closely. The forest above..(Looks like it's coming outta the factory)... What a cool pic..!!

Do you understand what I'm saying..??? If not, think of "having a baby".....!!

Look at the pic again.. it's a good one. Love it...

bull butter, I use high pressure car wash all the time....never a leak inside my interior. Note: a small drip is natural around the perimeter of the glass, that's why a drip pan system was designed with drain tubes down the truck. I remember one TW member saying that his drain tube was kinked and caused a leak in his cab...dealer got it fixed.
