leaking thing on propeller shaft

i was under the truck checking things out and saw this. it almost looks like engine oil. maybe when i did my oil change some splashed out of pan on to this but this is the only place that has a leak or what appears to be a leak. is this an issue?

 

No, there is a grease fitting in there. Nothing to worry about.

 

That thing is a drive shaft carrier bearing. To my knowledge it is sealed and not greased. I’d mention it to your dealer and get it on record.

 

Do a search on here as a few people have found the same issue. I can’t remember what the outcome was though. Sorry!

This is normal, actually. It's just grease breaking down and dribbling out of the carrier bearing. If you look at the bottom of that carrier bearing, you'll see that there is a drainage hole in it. You can sort of even see it in the picture. So that unit is not "fluid filled" & it's not leaking oil. Just grease being broken down by heat, and some weeping out from that bushing that's not really a seal.

I do have my suspicions that these are still responsible for some drive line vibes that were also an issue on the 2nd gens though, but that's an entirely different can of worms."

Mine looks the same as well, it's not leaving in puddles or stains of fluid/grease on my driveway. I was worried at first until researching on a couple forums, I'm still gonna bring it up to the dealership on the next service.

Wipe it up and watch it for more issues...
