2012 2.7L 5 speed manual 53,000 miles. I just bought the truck and I’ve been changing all the fluids as I’m not sure what the previous owner done. I drained and filled the manual transmission with redline mt90 but I did not use new crush washers. I crawled up under the truck and it is leaking at the fill plug not the drain. Should I open the drain and put a new crush washer in? I’m not sure what else would be causing the leak other than that. The drain on the passenger side is dry but the fill plug was wet and under it was wet. Thanks.

It certainly won’t hurt to try a new crush washer.
    That’s what I’d do.

I try to use a new one on the drain plugs. I usually reuse the fill washer.

Did you torque the plug to spec? If you did or didn't you could try giving it a little extra to see if that stops the leak. If that doesn't work, a new crush washer is needed. Capture what fluid you can in a clean pan and replace (always) the crush washer.

You can also use Teflon tape. I use it regularly and have for years.
I would recommend against going very tight. Remember, you are screwing into aluminum. Just snug and the Teflon tape will make the fit a little more snug for some peace of mind.

i would just order a new crush washer but teflon tape should work fine. like winkel said, you don't want to overtorque it. doubt it's a serious leak so you should be fine to wait until you can get it.

Could it be clogged vent as when I released the fill plug it sounded kinda like a vacuum when it was released. Where would it be located and how to clean it.
