I have pretty bad leaks on a 1999 tacoma i just bought. its leaking from the firewall in a couple places,i can see the holes with a mirror just can't get to them. in order to patch the holes i need to remove the blower unit.

    question is:

Can i remove blower unit without taking the whole dash apart???

any help would be greatly appreciated.

I believe he's talking about removing the complete blower case. not just the blower motor.

FSM says you have to remove cooling unit. that means draining the A/C system. Unsure if you cant get blower case out by it self.

    well. answered my own question...

yes it can be done. removed the whole blower motor.... leaving the AC unit in place.
-just remove the glove box, the top panel above it. There are two plastic air pipes, remove those " right one was a pain to a small screw". The start unplugging pigtails and removing bolts, x2 bolts and 1 nut. That nut is located way up high and was a PAIN. but got it done. takes some finesse to get it out. Getting it in requires finesse as well but actually went back easier than thought.

-hopes this answered some poor soul question in the future.
