I for one have spent over 8 years understanding gibberish by being part of/running computer geek/gaming community forums, so missing words or slightly misspelt words, while annoying, are basically ignored by my brain. I have a 'repair sentence' function always on when I read, automatically correcting some mistakes on the fly so that I can understand the point. Punctuation on the other hand can really change the meaning of sentences. Here's just one such example.

I was once uptight about that stuff too. I picked up a book on spelling and the preface suggested that common commutation should be free of the requirement to spell correctly. They went on with a good number of examples of the 'progress' that is made by absence of strict rules. One that I remember is the word 'breakfast.' Prior to its current bastardization, it was 'break the fast.'

Nu rulz. Cazual comm hz no rulz and Formal communication is full of rules.

    Gotz it?

What does this mean to you if you remove the commas?

I helped my uncle, Jack, off his horse.

In this world of hi-tech, I have noticed that many who send text messages and emails have forgotten the "art" of capitalization. If you fall into this world, please take note of the statement below. I cannot stress enough that grammar is important.

"Capitalization is the difference between helping your Uncle Jack off a horse and helping your uncle jack off a horse."
