Hey everyone, been lurking a while and I finally created an account so this is my first post. After careful research between new and used I’ve decided I’m going to try and capitalize on the current offers dealers have. Looks like a lot of places are offering almost 4,500 below MSRP on 2019 models. I’ve decided I want a TRD Off Road in a DCSB flavor (4x4 of course). I think I’m going to go 6 speed manual since everything I’ve ever owned was a stick and I just prefer it. Currently I have a Jeep XJ on a 6.5 lift, 33s, locked front and rear with a 4:1 t case. It’s pretty pimp and I’ll miss it after I sell it in a few months.

So are there any nuance type features that aren’t exactly advertised that just make certain packages better? Upon research it looks like a manual has 4.30 gears according to some other posts where an auto has 3.90. No big deal but that’s info that doesn’t really come up regularly. Also I’ve noticed the manual over auto is considerably cheaper even when purchasing the better tech package. I also noticed the manual doesn’t have CRAWL control, correct?

What’s mildly annoying with dealers and their pricing is they price all the cars similarly but then you realize some are base models with chrome rear bumper or the standard tech package for 770 bucks but then they add a bunch of dealer options like door sill protectors, floor mats and a rear tonnue cover.

What are some things you guys learned after your purchases that you wish you had realized earlier?

Booyah I love it! Plus Toyota is offering 2.9 for 60 months and no payments for 90 days. Unfortunately I’ll have to owe California about 3,500 bucks in taxes and fees on a purchase like that.

Location will be a big factor in what you pay. Buy what you want. Are you near any high volume dealers? If you want bottom dollar price you may have to travel for your truck. Focus on the purchase price one and have your financing done before you go. MT OR DCSB you should be able to get for $33,000 anywhere could probably get it lower if you want to work it hard. Good luck remember only get one that pleases you.

Verify you can get all those offers combined. Sometimes they will show all available offers but when you get there, you find out only one can apply and not be combined. Example, the 2.9 apr may state that cash back can not be used with special financing rate.
Or the 750 could be for a "special edition" such as the SX package.
Just do your homework and be prepared before visiting the dealer.

I live in the Bay Area so no local dealers will get my business. They all want close to 38 for what others are offering at 35 or less. I plan on looking with in a 500 mile range or so and just going with who I feel is best.

Looks like you get everything except the additional 1000 bucks. I’ll still try and get approval through my CU just to lock in my loan but I’ll work the numbers and see what makes sense in the end.

Shoot, that’s pretty good! How was it doing business with them? Difficult or would you do it again?

    When did you purchase it?

I just shoot them an email and I ask if get a price closer to invoice. I got the price without needing negotiate, though I could probably negotiated lower price to be honest.

Overall it was easy transaction, when I got to the dealer, I test drove and sign paperwork.

Just went to a dealer to see some stuff in person, mainly the leather seat option (normally I prefer cloth so I needed some reassurance). I think the hardest thing I’m still deciding on is the Premium Package for 2,800 bucks rather than the tech package at 770. Not a lot in the scheme of things but that almost pays for a camper shell in the end.

    Hmm...

I bought my bare bones 2019 TRD DCSB OR 4WD (auto though) for $33k back in June, AZ region, and took the promotional finance rate as well. Good luck.

I am always looking for the most base of whatever trim package I want. I don't need a nanny watching my blindspots, or beeping like a whore at me when I get too close to something during backing. The manual is the ONLY way to go with the Tacoma, the auto is fine but, having the 4.30s versus 3.90s and double OD is a bit overkill in terms of MPG savings. FWIW, I paid $5500 off MSRP for my Sport a week ago. So, it was $31071 I think plus all the fees. The sunroof robs headroom, I don't need it but, it does. I don't need butt warmers and despise leather seating. The dealers are trying to sell off all the 19s right now, so beat on them and walk if they don't give you what you want. Enjoy!

Always negotiate the price first. Once that’s done ask the dealer for the cash back in your hand. Then you decide if you wanna use towards the down payment.

I keep telling my wife we need to move...

I’ll probably apply for a loan this week and then go from there. Looks like northern CA, AZ, and Oregon have the best prices offered. Now I gotta start contacting dealers and getting real offers. I honestly think the ones that are almost 4,500 below MSRP are pretty fair but I also want to make sure they don’t start adding on stupid fees. The only extra stuff I want to pay for are what the state requires. What I need to do is find a dealer with high inventory that needs crap gone.

I must have most certainly found that pic on here but that’s gonna be my first addition. Need a place to lock stuff up and keep my GSD inside. Love the ARE and Snugtop shells.

Make sure you pop off a side mirror cover or something if you get one of the non metallic colors. SnugTop couldn't come close to matching Quicksand without it.

Well, called some credit unions today and talked to some dealers also. A local dealer has a white DCSB in the white flavor with tech package and 6 speed manual for possibly under 33k. Plus T&L of course. So 35,500 OTD is what I’m shooting for. If all my ducks get lined up this week then hopefully I’ll be shaking hands next week and driving off with a Taco. After much contemplation I decided I probably won’t get the premium package. This car will be 20 years newer than my XJ, way nicer and I’d rather spend the money on a shell. I make decent money but I’m not rolling in it, so for me, spending over 40 on a any car is crazy so I decided to draw the line where I did. Now if I find dealers willing to negotiate or come down more then I may reconsider but the truck I found is plenty nice!
