I picked up my 2020 DCSB TRD OR about a year ago and am making this thread mostly to chronicle the mods i do, post pictures of my sexy truck, and maybe meet some people or learn some new stuff.

This is how she looks now:

    IMG_2248.jpg

I'm really happy with she looks and functions now. I am gonna try to avoid spending too much more on her, but i already know that isn't gonna last long...

This is all of the stuff i've put on her:
    • Kings 2.5", with adjusters, 600 lb springs
    • Camburg uniball UCA
    • Deaver AAL
    • SCS Ray 10 rims in gunmetal @SCSPerformance
    • Toyo Open Country AT III in 285/75/16

    Yeah.
I see nothing. You may have to post more before you can start adding photos, not really sure.

See you down in Arizona Bay.

This is my OG girl and what happened to her to prompt the upgrade to the 2020. Apparently this is pretty common with the older tacos and sometimes happens on the freeway... Luckily for me it was just backing out of a driveway.

Yeah the lower ball joint failure is common with 1st gens when they rack up the miles, due to the design. It is avoidable if they are checked routinely but a lot of people aren't aware and they end up failing. Toyota changed the LBJ design from 2005+ so you don't see failures like that much anymore.

A new lower ball joint and misc. front suspension parts are maybe <$600, you went all out on getting a 2020 instead lol. Welcome to TW

Haha this specific malfunction wasn't the only reason I sprung for a new truck. It had already happened on the other front wheel, and if i remember correctly you're supposed to replace both ball joints when one breaks. So the picture shows a new ball joint breaking I believe. I loved that truck but there were a number of things wrong with it. I bought it in college and the guy that sold it to me was misleading in a bunch of ways and I was too young and inexperienced to pick up on it. The front bumper wasn't on it either haha, thats a seperate issue. And i had just gotten a raise, and the dealer gave me $4k for it which i thought was more than fair considering (1) it had 220k miles, (2) was in poor condition, (3) was missing the front bumper, and (4) the check engine light was on so it wasn't smogged. Got a decent(ish) deal on the new truck too haha

    Yeah.
Looks great, man! Welcome to the jungle.

BTW, I had never gotten the opportunity to see Tool until this last tour. Always told my wife they were the only band left I wanted to see. Got to see them in Tulsa with the wife and daughter, then in Dallas with brother and nephew, then in Memphis again with wife and daughter (they were pissed that I went to Dallas without them, so had to make it up to them). Memphis show turned out to be the best of the 3. Better sound mix, and they seemed rested and really "on" that night.

Was that with new album? I saw em in 2016 I think, at the Aftershock festival in Sacramento, CA and they crushed! No band quite like em. They just come out and casually jam the whole time like its so easy for em haha.

    Yeah.
Yeah, right before all this lockdown BS. They played like at least 2 songs from each album. The set list didn't change much between locations, but it was slightly different each time, which was cool. Hell, I would have been happy if they just played the new album from end to end. They seemed to be having fun -- in Memphis, Adam and Justin went into the middle part of Schism super fast to mess with Danny. He kept up fine, but you could tell they were just messing with him.

After doing a bit of research, and oggling other builds on TW i ordered a set of kings. Stoked with the way they look and function. This set-up was expensive but 100% worth the price.
