I’m not saying they would for *you*, but that your truck is part of the statistical group. Even this morning I still think it’s a load of crap. $50 is a huge shift in rate.

I went to nearly all long island dealerships, same scenario of "we don't have a manual trans. truck on our lot, so tough luck".

Does anyone have any experience with Sunrise Toyota? Was dealing with a salesman and then he just ghosted me... Sunrise seems like the only dealer with 6MTs on the island.

Off topic but Silverados/GMC pickups have been selling like hotcakes in my region the last 5yrs or so. Seems everyone has one!

Is the Silverado offered with a manual?
    Sounded like a requirement

Sounds legit. The tide is turning against manuals, carjackers can’t even steal them. The lease company is looking at a quick resale once the car is turned in.

Who cares what they have on the lot. Tell them exactly what you want and if they want to make the sale, they’ll find it. If not, go to the next guy.

Half of the cars I’ve purchased or helped my friends purchase, weren’t on a lot in the greater metro area, in fact 2 were built to order.

The dealer’s inventory should have absolutely zero impact on your buying decision. That’s a “them” problem.

Ok I’m off my soap box now.

If you still have your leased Tacoma take it to Carmax and get a free appraisal. I had a Tundra lease a few years ago, walked into Carmax a month before it was due to turn in and walked out with a check for $6500. With the good resale value of the Tacos you can definitely make some money out of it. Also the line about banks not leasing a manual is pure BS man.

you're 100% correct.. problem is every dealer within 50 miles pulls the same crap, and when you do find one willing to get the 6MT for a fair price they pull another scam when you go in to pick it up.

Check out the Ford Ranger, you don't really need a manual and might get a better deal.

Sounds to me like you'd be better off to buy it out and keep it rather than creating headaches for yourself.

If you're wanting to 'lease up' to get back in the longer warranty pool, just buy a genuine Toyota extended warranty before completing the buyout.

If you're just changing to refresh the new car smell, well, can't help there.

Does it pay to lease and negotiate a low buyout?

Someone with lease experience will have to help you there.

I've never leased and have no desire to do so. I'm sure it's right for some folks, just not me.

OTOH, keep in mind that the only reason leases are offered is to get more units out the door for the manufacturer, and make good money doing it.

It is not a program to help the consumer, regardless of the motion of the salesman's lips.

The only people that lease are those that can't afford to buy (most people) or those who have too much money and don't care where it's spent (very few).

You can't negotiate a residual but you can negotiate the number between the price and the residual. Most people don't even add it up. Most pick a number and try to get there.

The dealer clearly went over the OP's number so he went with his second choice.

Is this a real picture? I had no idea they'd done that to the "Terminator" trucks. I'll call this generation "Tron".
I wonder if they got the designer that did the Prius before the refresh. It's very current Toyota design to my eye.

FWIW, a friend bought a new Ram. Ton of content for the money, but traded it at 5 years as it just wasn't well built & had frequent annoyances. Turned it in last year on a new Ram. Ton of content for the money. Ton of stupid issues, dealer is nothing but annoying & never seems to fix things in 1 visit & is becoming antagonistic to him because he keeps bringing it back for issues they acknowledge are there. 1 year down the road he's ready to sell the da*n thing. So FYI on Rams FWIW, GM hopefully is much better. Good Luck.

@cmander I tried buying a 4Runner for wife through them a few years ago. Got numbers and payments all settled had them install a factory DVD player in the back for the kids they called a week later and said it was ready to be picked up buuut we messed up on your payment and it will be 150 more per month. After arguing with them for a about 30 minutes I said I was done and not picking up the vehicle. They tried to say they couldn’t refund the $1000 deposit because they had already put DVD player in. Luckily I had used credit card for deposit made a quick phone call to CC and had my deposit back in 2 days. I recently bought my used 2016 Tacoma from Riverhead and my wife highlander a few years ago. We have been happy with them and will probably go back when her lease is up in April.
