    Hi Guys!

I currently own a 2018 colorado and without getting into it to much I HATE IT! To make a long story short I want to lease a new tacoma but I'v never leased before and im not sure what to expect.

I have about $2,000 in negative equity on my colorado since Iv only owned it a year.

My questions are is there a specific model that will lease better? SR,SR5,trd offroad ect

With good credit do you think I can keep the payement under $500 a month?

Going to dealer tomorrow so any advise is apriciated.

I hope to be part of the family soon!

Leases vary by many factors. Sale price, credit score, bank, promotions, etc. only way you’ll find out is hitting up a dealer and seeing what they say. Don’t be afraid to go to a few to try and get the best deal, especially since you're carrying negative equity.

What do you use a truck for? The answer will help answer your which trim level question.

How many miles do you put on per year? The default Toyota lease allows 12,000 miles per year, you can negotiate for higher miles at an additional cost, of course. If youre putting more than 15,000 per year on the truck, or if you plan on doing off-road/work things where you have a high chance of blemishing the paint, financing might be the better option. That said, pretty much all of the trims do reasonably well in a lease thanks to the high resale on them. It all depends on the deal you get.

FWIW, the sales guy at my dealer told me that the TRD Sport tends to have the highest residual value on a lease. Since a lease is basically just paying off the depreciation over the period of the lease, higher residual value keeps payments lower.

Really though, find a truck with the features you want and go from there.

Also, you shouldn’t have any trouble getting a payment under $500. Depending on the model, you should be able to find a lease deal for under $300/mo.

<$400/month with $0 out of pocket on a 4x4 offroad seems to be a fairly standard negotiated deal. So if you can get them <$400 with no trade in then with your $2k negative you'll still be <$460.

I leased mine first for $380 after tax $0 out of pocket and the leases seem to have got better lately so you shouldn't have much trouble getting to where I did in 2017

Edit: and as guy said above if you go with a 2wd SR5 it'll be much less, just assumed you'd want a 4x4 OR cuz why not :)

I’m leaning towards TRD off-road. We go camping a lot and I want it as off-road as possible but don’t have the coin for the Pro

Never lease. If you can’t afford to purchase it. Wait.

I was saying I couldn’t afford a TRD PRO. I am more than comfortable under $500 a month I just didn’t want to go over that. I pay 450 a month right now my Colorado

Yeah, buy if you can. The more cash you bring to the table, the better. When buying, NEVER negotiate the monthly payment for financing. ALWAYS negotiate the final sale price. They will always Loop back to the monthly payments. And go in with a pre-approved loan...if you can.

Super ignorant. My 3 year lease payment is probably more than someone’s 7 year Finance payment.

    Plus:
Leasing is great for a lot of people who enjoy having a new car every few years.

    Different strokes for different folks

Very much just an opinion here...if a person has to finance for 7 years to afford a vehicle, they shouldn't be buying that vehicle. I agree though, everyone's situation is different.

Leasing is a great way to get into a vehicle you can’t afford to own. Just remember monthly payments plus residual is what the truck will cost you should you decide to buy the lease out at end plus sales tax.

Some website did research and found the Toyota Tacoma SR5 as the number 1 best vehicle to lease out of all Automakers and models. If you get a good deal and dont drive alot you should have equity when terms are up.
