    Good morning Taco lovers,

I am going to be trading in my Limited soon for a TRD Off-Road and I wanted to know if anyone could tell me about getting factory leather in instead of the cloth...I am still shaking my head that they didn't just put leather as an option..people get dirty off-roadin'...

I have spoken to another user on this thread and will probably buy some leather seat covers from him but I just wanted to reach out and ask what everyone else has done.

    Thanks again!

I agree. I put clazzios in mine and couldn't be happier with them.

I think I might go junkyard shopping for some heated leather power seats out of a Lexus. Keeping it in the family means I might be able to match the airbag weight sensors and maybe even the bolt pattern in the floor but failing that - there are a lot of nice seats out there that can work with some brackets. I've got 2005 sport seats from a BMW 3 series in my 70 Chevelle so... it's all just time and money :)

Or you can just get a TRD Pro as they come with leather seats. One of the primary reasons I went the Pro route.

Either go aftermarket with something like katskinz or try the Clazzios as a more affordable alternative. You can get the triple back or grey shipped for 430 and install them yourself in about 3 hours

Katskinz plus professional install could run $1.5-2k depending on how elaborate you get with your design.

there was a bit of sarcasm in my statement that was missed.. That said I did state "one of the primary reasons"....the others were obviously the suspension, grill, exhaust, and rims. And I only paid $4.9K over the TRD OR I would have gotten in its place if the Pro didn't exist

It's sad PRO owners have to justify their purchase. Sheesh

I think the Clazzios are what I would purchase from the other user on this forum. I had a TRD Off-Road logo stitched on too, but I wouldn't mind just getting something that is affordable and quality assured.

I've had mine installed now for about 6 months and have been very pleased with them Probably the best mod I've done to my truck because I get to enjoy it every time I climb inside.

Easily worth the $430 I spent for a leather interior. It was about half the cost of my Katskin investment for just two seats in my other car.

Highly recommended and even if you don't like them it's probably easy to sell to another owner here that does want them.

You must have hands of steel if you got the clazzios on and tight in 3 hours. Holy hell I wrestled with those.

But yes they look very nice and I've had them mistaken for factory leather (unless you fold the rear seat bottoms of course)

Watch enough videos and you learn the tricks to make it go a bit smoother. I've also installed a set of katskins which were a bit more involved so the Clazzios were a walk in the park in comparison.

You can have Leather installed at the dealer. My buddy has a 16 4Runner SR5 and got leather installed at the Toyota dealer, negotiated in price. They most likely use a third party shop but includes warranty. Just ask your dealer for a quote and go ask a local shop. Usually the leather is much better quality than factory.

First why would you down grade after only a few months to an OR? You bought a limited I am sure hard core off roading isn't your forte and this move will cost money.

Second, if you get dirty enough to supposedly warrant leather (won't help much) you should be getting a separate seat cover to put on before hand in those occasions. It is lower grade car leather, not saddle leather. It will scratch, get dirty, can stain, gets hot, cold, absorb some water, ect... All vehicles leather or cloth I have had (I prefer cloth) I have a separate seat cover to put on (yard work, gym, wrench, ect) to keep it from getting dirty. Never understood this, so you are just going to sit on your new leather seats soaking wet from sweat or mud and think they will be ok?
