I had the same thing happen to my passenger seat. Drivers seat looks like new still.

The interesting thing is, my wife is pretty much the only person who sits there and she is lighter than me. Her seat looks way worse than yours, the seat back looked like shit too.

I brought it up to the dealer and they said its normal, i laughed at the service advisor. My truck had like 3k miles. They said ok, our manager will deal with you.

Long story short, he ordered new seat coverings(apperantly you cant order the whole seat) and they tried to re-upholster and man... i wish i just left how it was. They fucked it up even worse, it looked like shit, the leather was all wrinkled and they tore the corner while trying to stretch the fabric.

I complained of course, so the manager said they will hire an upholstery company to do it. I told the manager like 5 times that the seat covering is torn and need to order new one, even sent him pictures.

So few months later i dropped my truck off, so they can fix it. These morons put the old, ripped seat covering back on. The seat looked like shit, there were some weird bumps and i just said fuck it.

Few months later, the seat started to look even worse and i couldnt take it anymore, so i complained again and the manager said there is nothing they could do. I was so pissed, i told him you guys ripped the fabric, made the seat look even worse and now saying there is nothing you can do?!

I emailed GM of the dealer and got reply right away from the service manager that im a valued customer bs and they will fix it. So this will be the third time, he asked me if i can wait till warmer temperature so its easier for them to do it.

Anyways , sorry for long post but i had really shitty experience with this whole thing.

From what i noticed, these seats dont like to have the heaters on max, and also, even if you have your wallet in your back pocket, it will stretch the seat. They are very delicate.

I barely use the ass warmer, she does all the time, i think thats why hers is worse. But still it doesnt make sense, the seat should not fuck up just from using the heaters.

Good luck man, and if you got questions, feel free to ask, i didnt tell half of the story.

There are some pics of how the seat looks like. I cant find pics of the seat back. In pics it doesnt look bad, but when you see it with your own eyes it looks like a 10 year old seat.

One of the reasons i didnt want leather option...i prefer the fabric any day. Specially now that its about -32c outside, i dont wanna freeze my ass lol

No my point is comparing fake leather to real leather installed and produced by a company that does absolutely nothing but leather makes no sense.

I didnt say that his seat didnt look funky. :) and if it really bothered me i would probably ask the dealer for some help. But i dont really care what the seat looks like under my butt either.

The window sticker says "leather-trimmed seats." There has to be real leather on there somewhere? Correct?

Except fabric absorbs everything, ever seen what appears to be a clean fabric seat being steam vac'd looks like? Pretty gross.

Nope, they can call it whatever they want. Tons of manufacturers do this, very few vehicles have genuine leather seats anymore.

Fabric looks good only when its professionally cleaned and protected at least every 6 months. Otherwise it smells and looks like shit.

Actually dealing with upholstery is part of my job, so i know.

Seats in my ranger looked brand new at 230k km. I did them myself every few months.

Even the service manager said its leather, im like, no its not, haha!

Softex is easier to clean, its lighter and more enviro friendly. They say its more durable but imo with proper care, real leather is more durable.

Seems like its hit and miss with this issue. Some trucks seats looks like shit pretty much right away, and some look good even after couple years, strange.

Katzkin leather, heated seats, Popnloc, bed lights, remote start, bhlm....
if I’m not mistaken the limited may have real leather center sections but all others are synthetic. I believe it’s the same on the 4runners.

Steam would help shrink it if it were leather. I’m not sure it helps on the synthetic stuff.
