I'm wondering how much the seat-heaters effect this? I have mine on 90% of the time.

For those who's seats still look new, do you use your seat heaters?

Complains when nice leather seats also conform to cradle your sack while driving.

I think it affects it 100%. Also i noticed having stuff in your back pockets will wrinkle/stretch the seat. So for about a year and a half now, i have to remove the wallet from my back pocket before i get in.

IMO this is unacceptable. But again, im pretty anal about things, especially expensive things.

Look at leather/pleather seats in other cars/trucks that are like 10 years old, still looks good.

If you buy couch or sofa and this happens within a month, its unacceptable. Unless you weigh like 350 pounds or something of course.

Hate to break hearts but Toyota uses fake leather and calls it Softex™

NO "leather" is exposed. All of today's vehicles (within then exception of some $100K+ vehicles and above) use a vinyl coated leather. Toyota uses "Softex™which is not leather at all On other vehicles the leather is usually only on the mid portions of the seats and seat backs on most vehicles.. With that, There is no need for any special leather conditioner as it will never see the actual leather.

To test for real uncoated leather (like on a baseball glove) is to place a few drops of water on the seat. If it rolls off it is coated leather. If it is absorbed, it is real uncoated leather. I can assure Ford does not use expensive top grain leather in their vehicles.

"Because clear coats on car paint and clear coat on car leather is a form of "plastic" (a combination a different polymers, resins, polyesters, etc., etc.) care for these coatings has changed the nature of the beast forever. It's just that most people remain in their ignorance and the industry has very little desire to educate".

So what you are actually cleaning and conditioning is not natural leather, but natural "leather" that has been enhanced, re-colored, reconfigured, and coated.
All that is needed to clean today's leather seats is a 409 type cleaner if really dirty then follow up with 303. It can be used on most interior surfaces.

First of all it is not a fake/faux leather. All contact areas are made out of genuine leather, the rest is leatherette or synthetic or whatever else they call it. Manufacturers are prohibited from misrepresenting facts especially on Monroney sticker.

OP, if you want to bring your leather to it's original condition do the following; Get a microwave safe container, get a bath towel, fold to fit in that container, fill it with water just enough to make the towel damp. Microwave it for a few minutes until is it very hot. Use heat protective glove and immediately place the hot towel on the seat. Let it sit there for a while, remove the towel and the wrinkle or stretch should be gone. Let it dry, apply some leather conditioner and you're done!

Agree that risk is greater than reward. I shouldve just left my seat in the first place. I thought they would just install new seat for me. They did fuck it up even more and then told me that there is nothing they can do, morons. I could not believe what i was hearing.

This is a touchy subject for me, because its been going on for a year now and they still didnt fix it. Thats after i had to fight with them to even get it fixed. So im waiting till spring now...

They make good, reliable trucks but from my experience their customers service is horrible. I had other issues that i was dealing with them and it was similar shit, unless you bitch to GM or corporate , nothing gets done.

I left my back seats down for 6 months, and when I put them back up, the leather was heavily distorted. I was certain I'd ruined the seats. However, I was putting some stuff in the back seat a few days ago and noticed the deformations were gone. It's probably been a month that they've been upright, BUT, I also don't haul many passengers in the back seats, so they've had time to recover. I think - given enough time without that specific object in that specific spot - you're leather will return to normal shape.

Yes you are right, sometimes it will go back to original state. In some cases it takes couple of months.

Same thing happened to me with my back seats. But my front passenger seat is permanently fucked.
