If you apply leather conditioner, don't. It softens the leather too much.

You have to apply the conditioner to leather. It’s just like our skin, if you don’t do anything it will dry out and start to crack. Also leather protector does wonders. Part of my job is cleaning/protecting leather by the way.

this stuff is good. Are you sure you are cleaning it thoroughly first? Maybe do a white rag test on your seat?

My previous car had leather and I didn't use a drop of conditioner for the 3 yrs I owned it. Seats maintained like new condition during my ownership. Never cracked and I live in NM where it's dry as a popcorn fart. My previous car to that one had leather and I used conditioner moderately. The leather stretched and deformed where my ass sat and the embossed areas were no longer raised.

I’d take a stable at the difference in the 2 vehicles with and without conditioner had more to do with the seats/foam used? My work f150 has some super soft sink in type of seats where as the taco seats are not. Just a guess.

steam cleaning the leather will work out wrinkles and indents- maybe help with ass prints too

The seats were identical, actually. VW GTI & VW Golf R.

Not trying to get into a leather conditioner debate...just sharing my experience with OP

I just realized that for a thread discussing leather wear.... there’s not enough mentions of body weight. Huge factor. I’m 5’10 170 lbs. I’m positive the side bolster gonna be first to get ruined as I slide out haha

Where was the debate? I was giving you my experience between f150 and taco seats with a possible theory on your differences. You didn’t mention seats were the same between cars… unfortunately I can’t read minds

I also was trying to be helpful with the steaming tip (for future use) :smack:

I’m 6ft 205 as I previously said my side bolster has that scrunched look but not bad. I will say I don’t slid my ass in or out of the truck and I don’t wear jeans or other real abrasive pants which might be helping my seats out.

Heat gun and a damp rag does wonders on leather. Worked every time for me.

Interesting. Hard to believe that identical seats looked different when one seat was conditioned and one wasn’t. I would think the construction/material of the seat/foam was different? I see what happens to neglected leather all the time.

I’m 5’11” and 210 and my seat looks brand new. I’ll share a pic when I get off work.

Maybe it was the product I used on the GTI. It was Meguiar's Ultimate Leather Balm. I noticed the conditioned seat surface had a glossy sheen to it, too. Anyways, I didn't like it so I stopped using product on the R. Cars were a couple model yrs apart. Same seat / materials as far as I could tell.

Since we're sharing body specs: 6'-1", 210lbs. Cloth seats in my Tacoma, though. Done with leather.

No offense but we have different definition of “Brand New”. Those lines on the bolsters are way too visible to be considered like new. But as you said, you maintain it well. I’m sure it’ll hold up instead of cracking as long as it’s cared for.
Personally I never got such creases on any of my past leather seats but I do expect it from this Tacoma leather, only matter of time. The quality of it just looks and feels less than ideal.

I do agree. I was referring more to those “squares”. That wear/lines on the bolsters are completely normal IMO.
