For anyone with a 2nd gen you should pull back the rubber flap shown in the picture after every fall. Not sure how they get there but the space behind that flap is full of leaves every time.
i have pulled more than two whole hand fulls every time i checked.

All the leaves I pulled out where bone dry so i wasn't worried about rust or mold/rotting leaves.

Tried may different tools to get the leaves out of there. Best one so far is a nylon pick i bought as a set for gun cleaning..These actually come in handy for a lot of work on the truck...

i use the one on the left...

Wouldn't work since the plastic isn't at the bottom. The leaves would still collect in the inner fender.

    I g

I think we are talking about a different thing, i was talking about the rubber cover on the inside and in front of the front door.. i think you are talking about the fender liner inside the wheel well...

I remember finding that area on my taco and it was packed with crap on both sides. My tundra has the same areas. The leaves and crap come from up near the windshield cowl, some guys have made wire mesh patches to kind of block the area where the crap enters. Not sure how effective that is. I just make sure I pull that flap back a couple times per year and clear that junk out and even vacuum in there. I also spray fluid film in there to protect from rust. Everyone should check these areas for junk, definitely a good spot for rust and corrosion to start. I park in a garage now 99% of the time so it's rare they get too filled up. If you parkOutdoors, especially on trees , I would clean the area out every month or 2. Good awareness post ! Thank you

Before i posted I did an extensive search for leaf and leaves an got hundreds of matchs on rear leaf springs etc.. So hopefully this isn't a duplicate

Yep, mine is outside under a massive 70year old manitoba maple so i get hit with leaves all the time but being fall its a deluge:crapstorm:
