Looking to replace halogen bulbs using same housing with LED, both hi & lo beam. Any suggestions? Did think about replacing entie lens with a 4 bulb projector-DRL- Seq. turn signal. At current price point, I'll wait for now.

There are numerous threads on this - perhaps you should search. You will likely not like the responses or recommendations.

Hikari ultra are awesome LEDs for stock halogen housings. They are a bit pricey though, I paid 120 CAN. Well worth it IMO. All other LEDs will blind everyone and performance will be worse than stock bulbs.

Edit: I was speaking about low beams only. IMO stock high beam bulbs are adequate.

Diode Dynamics are very nice, I run the high and low beams for a few years. Hands down in my opinion than the OEM bulbs and the GE mega 130s that I have used. I think they perform great, nice throw, I see farther, better and it lights the side of the roads better. Oh, never been flashed by on coming traffic and I'm slightly lifted. I know some will chime in, give their opinions as why its bad. I expect that, doesn't bother me as long as I'm happy.

Try the H9 bulb swap- it puts much more useable light down the road with less glare for oncoming traffic. Best bang for your buck at $20-30 for a pair of high quality bulbs that double your low beams.

that or spend the cash for a proper LED or HID conversion

The Hikari ultras work well in stock low beam housing. (H11) The key to adjusting them is pull up your garage or similar and install one at a time. Turn lights on and adjust the LED by turning it in the housing to match the pattern of the stock halogen bulb. I've had mine for about 8 months and have yet to be flashed. Now they're not much if any brighter than stock but look more modern and I like the crisper color.

I swapped to the Philips h9’s for $20 after reading the headlight thread that was referenced above. Wait for it….Night and Day difference between the stock setup. Tons more light.

I did Hikari Ultra's in my low beam and high beam. I personally really like them and how they perform at night.
Fogs, Diode Dynamic SS3 Pro's all the way though. Had some near 0 visibility fog roll through yesterday and they performed amazing.

I did the same with Hikari ultras!
I only swapped the low beams and fogs just to hold me over until I could get a deal on oem LED headlights and fogs.

11 months and no problem with Hikari Ultras.
Oem led headlights were wayyyy better but wayyyy more expensive and ass lube required lol o_O

I've had Xenon Depot's LED's in both low and high beams for over 3 years now without a glitch. What's nice about them is that they are fully index-able so you can achieve the perfect output angle. They even supply the allen wrench to lock it in place after adjustment. One great advantage to LED over halogen (and other forms of filament type lamps) is that no lumen output is lost over the life of the LED. If one goes out, simply change the driver (they sell them) and you're back up and running. Have never had to do that yet but I do have 2 extra drivers on hand just in case.

I know I will get grief for this but I bought Lasfit h11 LED from Amazon. They are like $34 a pair and so far I’m pretty happy with them. I replaced the high/low beam and fogs. They are not perfect but they aren’t $1200 or something crazy. When they crap out I may try a more costly set but for the money I’m fine with them. I have read all the threads on led headlights and the guys on here have done a lot of work to identify the “best” but my wallet can’t afford the best so I have learned to be happy with what I can afford. Just my thoughts don’t be too mean. :crapstorm:

don’t know what to tell you. I can see you really like your lights. Just know that although you may feel they are better in the end they may be providing you worse lighting. Sadly the improvements we think we “see” with these bulbs isn’t what is really an improvement.

if you want true better lighting, as in lighting that makes it better for you as a driver then the H9 is by far the best bang for the buck. And you don’t have to take TW as the only source, car guys have been using the H9 to improve lighting for many many years.
If you want the “LED” look then I recommend the adage “buy once, cry once”. Crash has identified a few LED bulbs that function decent enough but it is highly likely that yours are not some of those.

and don’t believe the threads about the lights? well remember thousands of drivers drive around with the Fog lights on when it’s not foggy and are absolutely convinced they can see better.

I would just go with the cheapest, brightest ones you can find on Amazon. The more foreground light the better.:popcorn:

Yeah I hear what you’re saying. I don’t disagree with you if I had the free cash I would buy a set of factory pro headlights but with college kids what I have are pretty good. As far as what I can see while driving down the road they are better than the poor yellow lights that don’t seem too far from the headlights on my 72 Ford. If I’m off-road then the light bar will make everything glow.
I’m not saying what I have are the best but I’m happy with them and they get the job done without blinding everyone I meet.
