So this is my first post, but have been lurking for a few months now (no account).

Anyways, long story short I purchased a 2017 Tacoma TRD Off Road last week which only had 36,000KM on it which was AMAZING!! Few dings/scratches here and there, but honestly I plan to add a bunch more myself with off roading so whatever.

The stock lights were extremely low and just garbage so I purchased a couple LED conversion kits to handle the lows, highs, indicators, and fog lights. When I was putting the lows and highs, I noticed the stock had a red gasket while the LEDs had a blue gasket. Didn't think anything of it at the time. I then noticed they came with slightly smaller red gaskets that matched the stock so I ran back out after and switched them all around while also adjusting them so they were more vertical (points at 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock) for best light disbursement.

When I changed them out, I noticed around the inside of the socket, it was grinding and some glass/plastic/sparkly dust crap was coming loose from where the bulbs were twisting against the light assemblies. The lights themselves are snug enough (slight wiggle if I push on them but nothing major) so I'm not overly concerned. I was wondering if anyone else had this happen when changing bulbs in general and twisting them into place?

Just a new truck owner whos never even changed a lightbulb before looking for some confirmation bias to make myself feel better.

This is just...wow...amazing!! Thank you so much for all the detail, I spent the morning going through the thread. Terrific work!! I swapped the stock halogens back this morning which honestly put me at ease. I also wasn't a fan of the convert box hanging loose and adding weight to the lights and wire connectors. Even if I zipped tied or stuck them down somehow, wouldn't sit right with me.

Thanks again for the feedback and introduction to your amazing thread where you tested them out. Really great stuff and most definitely appreciated!!

Still lots of good inexpensive bulb upgrades to get more performance out of your lights as listed in the thread.

Note that PnP LEDs are even worse in the fogs due to glare/scatter and poor lighting performance. You could use a halogen bulb upgrade, or for a true performance fog replace the assembly with an SAE LED assembly. Many are compared here:
