No, I took this picture with the hazard lights flashing. I have switchback drls so white all of the time and amber when turn signal or hazards are on.

Diode dynamics sells amber drls that function as turn signals as well. They should accomplish what you are looking to do

Vleds are absolutely the best bulbs. Customer service is top notch as well. All my exterior bulbs are Vleds.

Damn haha. Yeah I am looking at the Diode board for the factory DRL swap. I know I'm being picky here... but I'd actually want to keep the Diode board as just an amber DRL (non-turn signal) and make the factory turn signal as both an always on amber DRL and keep the turn signal functionality. I just love all the amber on the MGM lol

So keeping the drl as drl only should be simple as you have to tap into the turn signal wiring to get the drl to "flash" as a turn signal. So not tapping the wire should solve that.

The main turn signal as a drl should also be attainable since non-TRD tacomas use the turn signal as a drl. I'm not sure how to make it happen, but someone with more knowledge of the headlights could probably help. @no vtec 4me any ideas on this?

This one right here. I got vleds for all other lights on the outside of my truck so that I can have matching lights. The ultimate rears include vleds for the switchbacks, so I opted to get the matching front signals.

Thats what I was thinking as well. The SR tacos seem to use a 3 pin plug compared to the 2 pin the TRD models use. So if that plug fits in the TRD slot I could de-pin the connector, re-pin to the SR5 connector and then add the 3rd pin to the factory "L" DRL. Seems pretty straightforward but not many people seem to have done this which makes me think I'm missing a piece of the puzzle.

I found a while back VLEDs made triton V3 amber/amber switchbacks that seemed to do the trick but they're no longer produced and the V6's only come in amber/white. But I believe any amber led bulb should work as long as it is a 7443 type?

I'd also be curious to see if there was a way to make this work with dimming when the headlights are on.

I think most with trd lights like the led drl and don't have the desire to retrofit the sr/sr5 drl. I'm assuming you are correct about the 7443 bulb, and the long life of most leds should keep you from replacing them if they are ran all of the time.

The rest of your questions are most likely going to be outside of my electrical knowledge. There are plenty of people that hang around here with tons of electrical experience and will be more than willing to help.
