Thanks, I saw the link the first time you posted it.

I’m not wanting to read an entire book on hid vs led vs halogen with all the testing and specs.. was hoping someone could just post a simple “ this bulb from x manufacturer works great for on road driving”.

But I appreciate the detailed link.

For a drop in bulb..an H9 halogen after modifying the bulb to allow it to plug in is by far the best performance, especially for the money.

I tried the XD led bulbs and those are flat out dangerous on a dark highway at those speeds. You easily outrun your beam pattern and that’s pretty common with LEDs. All foreground light and minimal distance.

I tried the XD HID and those bulbs were bouncing all over the place on anything but a smooth road as many with 3rd gens have experienced. It’s a problem with some 3rd gen projectors and an hid bulb. By far the brightest by a long shot, just annoying and looks ridiculous.

I now have the hella performance 2.0 H9s and I am very happy. They are slightly whiter, don’t expect much white, but I am very happy with their performance.

Now for absolute performance in a drop in...the Phillips H9s, get the German ones if you can find them. A hair brighter than the Hellas above. They are the brightest drop in and go solution, like any H9 you just have to cut the tab in the socket so the stock one will fit.

Dideo dynamic works well for me. Been driving my back country dark roads for years and these have out performed my stock bulbs and the ge mega 130 or whet ever they are called. Dropped right in and have been perfect. I know people say they are not supposed to be used with the stock headlights as they are not designed for them, and what all the test that are done but to me and my eyes these are great, bright and no issues. In fact the sides of the roads are brighter and I see further. This is the best test there is, someone saying how pleased they are and they work for me.

Thank you, for explaining your experience with the one’s that didn’t work and for suggesting the ones that have worked for you.

I will look into the 2 you recommended.

Thank you. I believe I’m going to leave the headlights stock. I’m really wanting to just add LED bulbs to the Fog lamps. I see where Diode dynamics offers several direct drop in plug and play bulbs for the fog lamps. Im just unsure as to which model would perform best for on road driving..

I just want the fog lamps to somewhat match the DRL so when I have both the DRL and Fogs on they appear to match..

I don’t off road and don’t want to accidentally buy ones for offroading that will blind everyone on the road at night... I reached out to Diode and got a quick reply it just didn’t really answer which bulb to get. I’ll probably reach out again and ask for them to recommend an exact model for my needs.

Thanks for the reply and it’s good to hear that Diode is still making quality products.

You will be fine doing the LED headlights from DD. They won't blind anyone. Read the reviews if you need more insight.
