I will be sure to share my install for my 2020 with OEM LED headlights. Cant wait to install since the V5s showed up yesterday, wanted to wait to do it right the first time and have a straightforward install

Thanks Paul. It’s hard to keep up. Just when I was there with the headlight conversion, the v5 drop has me on my heels again. Oh well, good to have stuff to do at night.

Decent start for you 5. I think I will stop here and finish the rest tomorrow for all you v5 switchback guys. One lucky dude gets his early as he only wants grille lights.

someday I’ll be ahead of the curve. I hope.

Modifications are bad and only bad people modify.
I'm going to test out this driver's side first and then go from there. I hope that you'll see an order from me tonight instead of opening a ticket.

And wait a minute..you don't seem like the slowest crimp in the west to me, mister!

Got my T Tap today its a great kit! It came with everything you'll need to connect your @MESO V5 drl's.
Top quality & well made, highly recommended!
    Thanks Dave!

Thanks for the shout out. I think many have expressed desire for an installation tutorial. Since I won't be doing this exact setup, anything anyone is willing to contribute in this thread is very much appreciated.

I second Dave's request about a tutorial for us mere mortals, specifically those of us with OEM LED/DRL (2020+) lights. Thanks all.

I think the install for halogens with MESO’s harness should be nearly identical to the LED T tap.

I haven’t seen anyone document either yet.

It seems very unlikely that I will have any daylight truck mod time this month.

One thing maybe worth spelling out for anyone ordering this tap for both v5 switchbacks and grille lights. This might seem obvious and forgive me if it is, but the way I do the grille lights has a module to combine DRL and Park into a single + signal which ensures grille lights are on whenever the stalk isn't set to OFF. It's all as compact as I can make it, starting with male 3 position AMP to 2 position female, then a male 2 position pigtail as well as a cap (if you don't plan to need grille lights immediately).

The v5's on the other hand come in two varieties. One is a T style harness, that's the one you get if you also want grille lights. The other is a direct male connector feeding straight, no T. That's if you don't want some other use for the T, just the v5's, no need to have it T to another female and just have to cap that. It's all modular so we could potentially do a 3 way Y splitter to feed grille lights down the road, just more pieces.

Or, in perhaps simpler terms, if you get both grille lights and v5 switchback feed, the v5 is the long wire and the grille light stuff is everything else. There should not be any possible way to hook anything up incorrectly, it's all color-matching on the grille lights and drl red/white wires. You'll want a heat gun ($25 ish for a nice corded one) to shrink things (though a hair dryer will work in a pinch) and some sort of wire stripper, two very basic tools which are well worth owning.

Last, the r4t grille lights should be plug and play with all my grille light feeds, two position AMP with matching polarity. But I personally just run eBay raptor lights and am perfectly happy with them.

Hey everyone, just wanted to sing the praises of this kit. I just did a short little write up over on the Meso V5 thread. But this thing worked awesome and made the install much cleaner

I'm wondering if the 2019+ Rav4 OEM LED headlights have these same connectors? They use the same mirror lights as the Tacoma & V5's could be possible. I can check but is there any markings on the connectors that would tell me?

Toyota OEM connectors from Yazaki and Sumitomo should have a 5 digit Toyota part number on them. It's often very hard to find and difficult to read.

A photo is a good start and google image search isn't horrible at locating the specific one.

I do have a side effort trying to build a headlight conversion harness from halogen to full LED for the 4Runner but this talk likely belongs in my headlight conversion harness thread rather than this here T tap thread. Or even better, the DIY OEM LED harness thread.

Thanks Dave, received the harness today. Now I will have to re-do it. I should have just waited and not tap into the door harnesses but I wanted to see them in full action. Lol High quality like always and fast shipping. My 2nd harness from Dave!

    I finally ordered mine!

I just realized I forgot to note that I’m going to try and connect on the passenger side because my dual batteries are stacked super tight up by the drivers headlight.

And that is super important because I am required to color match to the side ;)

Hopefully you’ll figure it out! I wasn’t sure how much red/white wire I’d need versus comes with the harness and if where I connected would change things.

I'll make yours full length. txrangersomethingorother said he cut off about 18" of pvc and several feet of wire. I can't really get the PVC longer without devising an entirely new mechanism to pull wire but you can protect it in cab however you want (loom or braided sleeve or tessa tape) assuming you likely go through the firewall on the passenger side?

I was thinking of using one of the unused “nipples” on the passenger side of the firewall.
