So I bought a set of Genssi LED Headlights with drivers they work great, for now, boat load of light output. I decided to do a test run without installing the factory boot on the back of the headlight housing, glad I did, they get hot, really hot. The lights must be able to vent and it is my opinion that using the factory boot will create a short life scenario based on the design of the second gen headlight housing boot, just not enough room to vent. I would recommend a thin sealing product to seal the housing and preventing contact with the led bulb. Anyone else notice this? Driver gets pretty hot as well.

I am assuming these come with the massive heatsink and fan, yes?

How hot are you talking? I'm sure the headlights can take 120ish degrees, hell we put them in the oven for 200 lol

The LED bulbs I picked up for my truck have a monsterous heat sink on the back, and a small threaded stud to attach an included fan to, the fan comes on with the lights and runs constantly.

It's not the fan it is the heat sink. Don't let any part of the boot cover any part of the heat sink, they will run very hot.

Not talking about the housing, the led. Well above 120, in this case your led will fail.

Not sure however, if the boot chokes any part of the heat sink they get hot enough to the point that you can't leave one finger on the heat sink more than a second or two. I can only speak from my experience after testing both with and without the boot.

But we remove all the rubber bits before baking. Housing can take the heat, not sure about the rubber boot.
