Not to be a dick, but rkfoote's write-up is pretty self explanatory as to which light bar was used and how he mounted it.

He was pretty detailed in his write-up, and obviously put a lot of thought and research into it. You could easily take the dimensions from your scoop and compare them to the Rigid SR10 dimensions that Richard used: http://www.rigidindustries.com/sites/default/files/catalog/22.pdf

That should give you an idea of how much clearance/tolerance you have to work with.

You can find the dimensions for almost any light bar you're interested in, and see if it will fit or not .

And as far as the heat goes - I let my 10" LED run for over an hour and it was warm to the touch, but definitely not hot enough to melt anything. You shouldn't have any problems.

Not possible. The scoop is 1/2" tall.

I'm going a trio of Nichia LEDs completely hidden until they're turned on.

I have order this but havn't received it yet. I assume it has NO output but what's the odds on modifying it? Anyone have one?

Dude! $99.00 ?????????? That thing is for decoration. It doesn't look to have much in the way of "usable" light.

If you just want accessory lighting you're better off going to Autozone and buying a package of two 12" LED strips for $19.95....seriously.

Or....you could do something like this: I went with amber LEDs because they closely match the parking lights and are a street legal color for the front and are essentially running lights

Amber LEDs behind a T-Rex Hood scoop grille insert.

Totally agree it's decoration but the gift card was free so I thought it could be used as framework for usable light hence posting here to get ideas. Still have yet to receive the Putco insert but will post with results (if any??).

If it doesn't work the I'll fit in in the barrio for free!

In the process now. To take scoop out there are 4 10mm nuts and 3 plastic plugs. The middle one is easy to remove w needle nose pliers. With the outer 2 it was a little harder but I managed with 45degree long needle nose just because of the hood's structural brackets hiding the plastic clips. All told 10min to remove.
Also tried the plasti-dip thing in the hood to kill the glare off the white hood and scoop. not bad for $15 and can be peeled off whenever.

Plastidip on the scoop is a good idea. The only thing I don't like about my truck is when the sun is at just the right angle, I'm blinded by the glare off the scoop. I need a sun visor on the dashboard too!

I see you have those DTRL LEDS below the headlights. What do you think about those? Personally, I do not care for them. I assume you are trying to make the hood scoop match?

Is the 2014 hood scoop the same as the 2011?

I don't think so. The opening on my 2012 hood scoop is only about 1/2" high. The older scoops are much taller and would allow you to mount a Rigid Industries 10" light bar inside. The 2014's probably have the same scoop as the 2012's

Yeah, the 2012 + are smaller scoops (like 1.5"). The Product dimensions of the crappy Putco lightbar are 14x6x2 according to Amazon. The light bar referenced earlier in this thread is like 14x6x6" according to Amazon model 91131. It's hard (to me) not having the parts in front of me to see if that brilliant light can be made to fit in the newer scoops. From looking at the 2014 hood structure and scoop it does not seem possible. There should be some available light bar that would fit within the '14 dimmensions (prob. with less output - but how much?). Is it coming down to half the output at the same cost (with a smaller bar)? I don't know. Just looking for ideas.

I hate to disappoint you, but there is no "inside" to the 2012+ hood scoops. The opening at the front has a plastic insert that can be removed but the height of the opening is only 3/4". Unless someone makes a single row LED lights with tiny reflectors/lenses, it's not going to fit there.

I happened to cut out the back of my scoop and mounted a single row of LEDs behind the scoop but these are low power and just for show.

I think the Putco light will fit but I also think that it will not put out light like a true "light bar".

I was coming back to regretfully agree with the above poster. It looks to my feeble eyes not very possible to mount any useful light. I hope some who is smarter than I can find something useful!
I guess i'm destined for the sexy accent mentioned above.
    Thanks Guys!

I realize that the newer hood scoops are smaller and it's almost impossible to fit a 10" RI lightbar in there. I liked the idea and video so much I ordered one before I realized the newer scoops were too small. So now I'm wondering... Is it the new the new scoop that's smaller or has the hood line been changed as well? I guess where I am going is if an older style scoop would fit the newer 2015 models hood, I would be willing to swap then out. Does anybody know if the older scoop will fit the newer hoods? It's my first post and man i'm lovin my new truck!

    Thanks for your responses!
