I see a trend on TW of states that indicate most of the cool stuff is illegal. If I were to just base my decision on some of the posts here about where I would want to live. , I would not want to live in Oregon, since it seems most everything cool is illegal, and most states up north. I guess I'm lucky as a KY resident, hootin' and hollerin' and shooting guns and all. Seems like most southern states let a lot more go than northern states.

I've had an amber 10" light bar in my scoop for about 4 years. Never had a problem with it on the street until one day I got pulled over for speeding and the cop gave me a "remove it" ticket. I think I only got the speeding ticket because of the light in the scoop. It made me stand out more and made the cop focus on me. I think the cop may have been a little biased against aftermarket lights or something because he said something to the effect of "that ridiculous light in your hood". Anyway, I unpluged it and took it out of the scoop and went to the DMV to prove it was removed to void the ticket. Only thing is the inspector at the DMV said as long as the light was white, yellow or orange, it was legal. So I put it back in when I got home and only use it in remote areas now. You cant' see it when it's off as its behind the mesh so a cover is not necessary. I have a 32" white LED light in the lower grill also but never use that in public roads, only very remote areas with no other vehicles around. The one in the bumper is visible though even when off but I've never been hassled about it after 6 years. Maybe because its low enough on the truck.

Still not sure if it was legal or not. I mean I understand red, blue, green etc.. being illegal. Big rigs have orange lights all over them sometimes. Raptors have the 3 orange lights in the grill from the factory. HD trucks have the marker lights on the roof. The only thing is even though it is orange/amber, it's above the headlights and projects light forward. Maybe other drivers would be confused by the single light and think I'm an emergency vehicle.
