As cheap as LEDs are these days I doubt it's about profit. Most likely it's the average consumer does not want or need the brightness of LED interior lighting

I'm not a fan of the color temperature. It's looks to be around 4000K. I'd be curious as to whether there will be color shifting over the life of them. Do you know what chips are used on these? I'd be interested to know how many steps they are using in the binning .

just ordered these, thanks! didn't get the vanity ones nor the license plate tho, just the main ones. Ilike dim vanity lights as I use those for my contacts often, and a bright light makes that difficult.

Install is pretty easy? How rough were you with popping off the covers?

If anyone is REALLY interested in the lumen output I have access to an integrated sphere to test actual output (landscape lighting trade). I'd be curious. They look damn good. It's just the color temp is not what I'm used to dealing with. Outdoor lighting I work with on a daily basis is closer to 2700k -3000k a warm white. Anyway, if anyone is interested in a test, send me the LED lamp and I'll test

Popped off the map light clear covers and I couldn't get the stock lights out for the life of me. Too tight of a space, plus it was in there pretty good, couldn't wiggle my way out.
Should I have removed the whole cover black? I have the tech package, so all the moonroof controls are also on this cover...

It's probably an s8 or scb type base. Try pushing the bulb inward toward the receptacle and turning one way or the other . There's usually just a little divet that locks it into place. Unless it's integrated? I'd really love pictures of you have time? I haven't taken anything apart in mine yet

Nice! If you can take pictures when you install the LEDs is very much appreciate it. Here are some pictures of test data from a random MR16 bulb sample in case anyone is interested in a test. I'd need to be sure I have the correct socket to test it. The data is accurate within +/- 10% as far as lumens. Color temperature is spot on image.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpg

Wow those are absolutely awesome measurements. I now know more than I EVER thought possible about LEDs. Mine are all ordered, and once I have them installed and I am blinking my eyes because of how bright they are .... I will always have your graph visualize in my head about the particulars on the brightest! Thanks for sharing this cool information.

Sarcasm fully detected. I was simply showing I can test them. It's pretty easy to read though. The info in the left is what is important to you. It's in scientific notation, so try and wrap your head around it. Lumen count for this bulb is 550 at 12v with a color temp of 2716. Plug in one of the LEDs for the truck and you can figure out the efficiency of the bulb and if you got what you paid for. A lot of published lumen values and ct values are quite off. if you aren't interested you aren't interested. Why does everyone think they need to be a smartass if they don't find something particularly interesting or cool? I'm sure there are people on here that would love to have the accurate data. If not, then oh well. I offered

so outside of the dome light, all the other lights are the same as the 2nd gen.

personally i am not fond of the cool white color temp. i would prefer the natural white. guess i need to yank the old vleds out of the current tacoma and put in the oem bulbs tonight.

My apologies, it was NOT sarcasm, I have never seen any equipment or anyone explaining exactly what the heck LEDs brightness was and how it was measured. I am sorry, I was trying to PROMOTE how great a detailed doc you had written down. I want to tell people that there is actually tools for measuring this stuff. Again apologies, I did not express that in my statement! I just was trying to comment on the detailed explanation you had written
