Just tried installing it and it wouldn't seem to fit correctly. It's powered and in there, but worry a bump will knock it loose. I'll be replacing once Meso has his dome light anyway so it's a temp fix

if i remember correctly back on page 6-8 (i think) i posted, its a 3022 in a 29mm festoon bulb. 31mm will fit but its a tight fight depending on how the points on the ends are.

Confirming what NoDak already posted. The 3110-CW18-CB is about 1mm longer than the ideal size to fit the socket, but it does fit, if snugly, and works.

So I just replaced all my interior lights with LEDs with the exception of one. When removing one of the map lights, I had no luck trying normal techniques so I stupidly tried using pliers. I was successful on one side, but the bulb exploded on the other. No big deal, cleaned up the mess, removed all the little pieces, went to install the LED only to realize that something is messed up. Once installed, when I turn on that light, it has minimal power and the other map lap and rear interior dom light turns on. If I remove that bulb and press the button nothing happens, so obviously something most be making contact somewhere. I tried putting in a regular bulb and the same thing happens.

Does anyone know what might be happening or what I should be looking for to help stop this?

    Thanks in advance.

When I was replacing the map bulbs I thought about using pliers but chickened out LOL.

There are some videos that show taking the whole map light console out and then going in from the back. Maybe this might help you check the light socket at that angle. Sounds like a fragment could still be lodged in there that affects the connection.

I'll find that video and post it.

This is one of the better video's. If you go in this way maybe you can get a better view/approach to see if there are any fragments left behind.

    https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=rKtYIFni9b0

Also it might make sense to either put a vaccuum on that socket to possibly dislodge whatever could be in there. Or you could use compressed air to blow whatever it is out. This is either a really good idea or a very bad one...but experimental dinking around is how I roll. :headbang:

Well that was easy to remove, wish I did that in the first place rather than fighting the bulbs. However the one light still turns on all interior lights. I tried switching the bulb holders from side to side and it didn't change anything. My thoughts now are that it has something weird to do with the LEDs drawing different power. I'm going to switch everything back to regular bulbs and see if that brings things back to normal and at least that way I'll have figured out where the issue is.

    Thanks for finding that video!

FYI-- If you can find the size you need, Phillips and Sylvania leds are hard to beat. Consistent and they just plain work well. The philips festoons are great. As are the sylvania zevo 194/168's.

    Amazon is a good source.

Does anybody have issues with the map light connector being too small? I ordered the ones listed but they keep falling out of the socket on both sides.

Left is new SMD LEDs, right is stock bulb.

I installed SMD 5050 LEDs pcb boards. They are cheap boards from eBay. I had to combine two small boards to fit in the map lights. The dome needed three larger boards. Pictures do not show just how much light is put out but they are much brighter then stock and I love the red color.

way to many try to pull the lights out via pliers, usually involves shattering the bulb which entails trying to get the base out with pliers which most of the time causing a short in the BCM. use duct tape.

if you shorted the bcm, it will cause the interior lights to act very weird or not at all.

and you cant tell or see signs it shorted until you take it to a dealer to have them check. then its a $$$ computer module to replace.

I used the superbrite vehicle finder and it comes up with the same lights for map, license plate and back up lights. Is this correct? Also, says the vanity lights are fuse lights- is this correct?

You don't want your backup lights the same as your map/license plate lights.
For backup lights you would want something like these. http://deautokey.com/product/bright-15-chip-reverse-leds-194-921-wedge-error-free-fits-toyota-tacoma
Map and license plate lights are the same 194's.
I just checked the vehicle finder on superbrite's website and they still show the wrong vanity lights for me. If they show these than it works for you. https://www.superbrightleds.com/mor...md-led-vehicle-vanity-fuse-lamp-30mm-car/243/

Maybe they say 194/921 because hey have the same base. They clearly intend this to be a reverse light bulb in 921 applications. Not to be used in our 194 map/license plate applications.

Does anyone have a complete list of LED lights to buy in one place (front page is outdated and I don't really want to sort through 32 pages of post to piece one together since I know nothing about the lights I need)? Seems the superbright website is incorrect on some of them and I'm also not sure what a CAN Bus is and if my 2018 taco has to have it.

Edit: LED's for interior and license plate lights

20181011_181020.jpg 20181011_212541.jpg I'm not sure if anyone is following this anymore but I did my interior based on this thread's recommendations. I also did my exterior lights using Auxbeam H11 LED headlights . They gave worked great!
